I expected much better according to reviews and a message from Thomann support after I made an inquiry about it. However, the spec sheet and the price could have made me cautious. But still, I had hopes.
Big, sturdy wooden housing, nice grille on the front. Not to heavy to put it anywhere, but it has weight. For the price, until you switch it on, it looks really promising.
But the sound. I have some average 6.5" active speakers at home which I use for everything from gaming through movies to listening to music and this box does not even come close, especially regarding the low frequencies. Which is odd, since this one has 12" bass driver, which should give some nice low vibrations, but it can not compete with my 6.5" pair. And if you try to tune with the LF knob, it simply starts peaking so you need to turn it down, you lose volume.
For a drum monitor role, it can probably do it, if you can make it loud enough, but my Millenium set was not able to give it enough power in itself on the external connections. It was working but with mediocre volume. Better use it with an amp.
If you leave everything on default, it can be loud, yes. Probably enough for small gigs and parties. But the sound quality is average and the bass is very shallow (not a surprise according to spec sheet). Perhaps it needs some time breaking in, but I would not expect too much better sound in any time at all.
I had to return it, I simply can not accept what it produces. I would try the 150W version, but I lost my trust in The Box.
