Like most slide players, I seem to have a collection of used, semi-used, underused and never-again-used finger sized tubes. I thought maybe it was time to get serious, research the issue properly and invest £29 in something that would solve all of my issues once and for all.
But I found this slide underwhelming. No doubt it is expensive to ream out a bar of brass to turn it into a bullet nosed tube, so the cost is understood. Trouble is, I didn't find the end result worth it. None of its features made using it any more successful and I found it a little short and a little thin. I also find again and again that, for what I want to play, my pinky finger is just as important as any of my others and I felt very restricted using it.
I'm also hopeless at controlling pinky slides it seems, and I have returned to using a homemade Hoolahan type slide with more weight to it, that fits more happily on my ring finger, can be easily flipped back round on itself for maximum finger dexterity and which I find more accurate and trouble free to use.
Probably, like all of us, we have our own needs and music styles that we wish to play and sounds that we wish to make. And one person's ideal setup will not suit another. So this slide may suit you and your guitar setup, neck and own personal hand geometry. It didn't suit mine.
