I perform live with Ableton on my macbook and I sing. I have a quiet voice so feedback as often been a problem. I am also a demanding recording engineer so good sound is essential. After lengthy research on headsets, I settled for this model for the following reasons:
1- It's a condenser mic so quality should be better than a dynamic mic.
2- It's a directionnal mic (most are omni) so the chances of feedback are well reduced.
3- The term AKG in the description refers to the type of connector that terminates the cable. The choice of connector dictates which wireless transmitter the mic will work with. In this case, AKG -type connector (mini-XLR) will work with the Superlux PS 418-S. The Superlux allows me to use the mic WITHOUT a transmitter, instead I can plug directly from the Superlux into the mic in of my soundcard with a standard mic lead. Like for all condenser mics I MUST provide 48V phantom power for the mic to work.
So my set up is:
the t.bone EarmiKe - D AKG
into
Superlux PS 418-S
into
MIC IN.
Wasn't sure what to expect but the headset is just brilliant! Top sound, can hardly feel it, doesn't move during performance and is quite unnoticeable, and the Superlux clips nicely on my belt in the back therefore taking the weight off the thin mic cable. Also the mic has just the right length cable to have free movement without sagging and getting caught in my feet, flightcase clasps etc.
Very lightweight unit with lightweight cable that must be handled delicately to provide years of use! The small box it comes in is strong and big enough for storing the mic AND the Superlux adapter squeezed between the original foam pads it comes in and that's great for travel!
I give a 10/10 for the combo!
I have other The T-Bone mics and really like them :)
