For the last 15 years I have used a Rode NT1 - and I have had pretty good results. However, I wanted something with a different personality...

Okay - ribbon mics have their uses - they're not for everyone/everything (not so great results on snare brushes etc. - even this is subjective).

However, recording my double bass (and some male vocals) i can only describe the results as sublime.

For these results I would have paid twice the price

Signal chain = RB770 into SSL 2+, into Ableton.

Heavy, beautifully made, nice case...

Next on mic list ? Retro Tube 2...

Finaly i get frequency from microphone which satisfied my ear. Same as i read in reviews of producer , smooth deeper midle range ideal for clean sound on my Fender 15W tube amplifire.
