Remarkably Good Shotgun
Anonymous 20.02.2017
This is a surprisingly good mic for the price.

I've used it successfully in various live theatre productions and on-location video shootings. It does a great job in situations where more conventional supercardioid mics just aren't up to it.

I simply can't fault the transparency of its on-axis frequency response. Similarly the off-axis attenuation is very pronounced as mics go. Sensitivity is very good too.

Build quality is top notch, externally anyway. (I haven't dismantled it.)

The only negative thing I can find to say about it is the phasing of off-axis sound. You might want to avoid mixing any residual off-axis signal with audio from other mics.

You will pay many times the price for a better long-range shotgun mic. This is a great product.

Well worth the money!
David4019 03.01.2014
I was surprised how good this mic is. The self noise is very low, comparable to Mics costing £200 more than this one. The low end is very good, I think I detect a slight loss of mid range clarity, but it is more than adequate for my needs. I bought this as a back up for a Pro HD NXCam, and find that it provides a good signal without having to turn the Gain right up.
I might add than I am one of those irratating people that is not easily pleased, but I can honestly say that I don't know of a similar mic, with such good credentials!

SHOTGUN ON A BUDGET
colinrobot 18.04.2023
I bought this for Field-recording with my Zoom Black H4n . At the time I could not afford anything more expensive (I now have a Rode NTG4+) so had to look around for a mic that had good enough spec which also fell into my price range. This did both. It was slightly bigger than I wanted but the spec was better than the T-Bone EM 9600. It sounds great although now with a better mic I see its downsides. It has quite good low self-noise and is made extremely well. Best for outdoor use not really an indoor mic .A great choice for a first time budget mic. It's now my backup mic but will never get rid of it.

One of the "should be secret" type tools
Sziklafy 23.02.2021
It's a little bit light in terms of weight, but a very good mic, that is focused and sensitive, has a bit of the backside too, sounds totally fine. If you want to get into shotgun mics, this is definitley a good place to start, cause it won't let you down!

If you are starting in the film audio industry and need a Boom Mic and don't want to broke the bank, this is for sure, the best shotgun mic for you. Its sounds so good, and not only for film purposes, also for recording instruments and other studio applications works very very good. Can't be more happy with this bad boy.

M
Amazing shotgun mic
Minsk 11.09.2020
As the header says, this mic is absolutely amazing. It boasts very low self noise (which is really important) and high quality build. I use it with Zoom h4n Pro recorder and Rode Boompole for my amateur field recordings (nature, ambience, industrial, trains) as well as foley/sound design.

The only minor issue is that wind protective shield quickly became loose and something is need to be done to keep it in place. Also it doesn't have a case or even a pouch and it's nearly impossible to find a match due the length of the microphone.

Amazing for the price
NeZvers 27.03.2020
I needed some shotgun mic for foley recordings paired with Zoom H4n pro and this mic did all I needed.
I used it recently it as Discord call mic and it's amazing for that, comparing to my sm7b because I can keep distance, but maintain a loud and full signal.
Con would be that it capture contact noises - handling the mic or vibrations on the floor with a mic stand.

fantastic value for money
Anonymous 11.05.2015
I'm not a microphone expert. some who are, and are super-pickey about certain aspects of microphone performance may well find fault with this unit, but they will have to pay a lot more money for something that suits them. As someone who was looking for a good solid performer at a price that fit my budget I could not be more pleased. I use it for field recording in a blimp with a with a portable recorder and get very good sound under what can be quite challenging conditions.

Great for field recordings.
AlexCm 01.03.2018
I use this for field recordings and record onto small portable recorder. I do recommend buying a short, 1m, cable. Sound quality is great with very little noise. Pickup is nice and narrow for picking up details.
