Build: This Cajon is well built, it is sturdy and is suitable for players over 100 kg.
Performance: It is my first Cajon so it's hard to compare, but I would appreciate more bass sound. The volume is more than enough and overall characteristic of the sound is mid to trebles centered.
Features: Snare wires off knob works well, but I don't use it as I like the snare sound.
Overall: good choice for entry level Cajon.

Thomann CAAS-300BM Cajon

Very impressed by the quality of this cajon. I have owned and played various cajon's since 1995. With that said, I found this cajon to be:
. small and light weight, all this in a good way.
. The snare piece works really well
. The overall sound without mics is not massive and has a bass that it's not exactly a deep note, but it works, and it's very precise on the overall frequencies; when connected to a mixing desk, the sound is very easy to manipulate and has this very nice aspect of sounding like it has compression what make's it very, very precise and drum like usable.

For a friend

A friend of mine new I was purchasing from Thomann and said he would like to buy a Cajon as he wished to learn how to play. So he chose one and I tagged it on to my order.
He is over the moon with it, as are his kids. Not so sure about the neighbors though. The build quality is good and both he and I like the snare on/off feature. The included carry case is also a welcome addition.
Tonally, I have played along with nicer sounding Cajon's. The price difference for these bad boys was huge. In comparison this is more than acceptable. An excellent entry level unit. Just a minor suggestion, it would be nice if Thomann included a few sets of ear plugs for the neighbors. A kind of a goodwill gesture. For the price, highly recommended for beginners.
