I have recently purchased the Thomann Standard ukulele in both concert and tenor size. Both are an absolute delight to the eye, featuring very striking wood patterning (sapwood streaks, knots, etc) that differs from that of the photographed models. I find the natural grain look (and lack of gloss finish) particularly appealing.
This concert model has a lovely tone - bright and resonant (as would be expected, the tenor is a fair bit louder).
As other reviewers have commented, the downsides are the poor-quality supplied strings and the slightly heavy neck. That said, given that the majority of solid acacia ukes cost at least three times the price, Thomann's models really are exceptional value for money.
