  • The MDF boards are glued across their entire surface to the grey felt

I highly recommend the Drum Noise Elimination Podium!!

I live in an apartment and bought this for my Roland TD17KVX as my downstairs neighbour complained of noise. Very, very happy with the product, as it is very sturdy and looks professionally made (unlike a lot of DIY platforms I've seen online). It was very easy to put together and I disagree with a previous reviewer that stated it 'wobbles'. I'm a big guy and I don't notice any wobbling, so I think the other reviewer must not have assembled it properly. I was also impressed with how fast it was delivered, as I'm in Canada. I ordered it on a Sunday and it was at my door by Thursday. Highly recommend purchasing this for your drum set, as it works great for noise reduction and looks great! I haven't had any noise complaints since. As a first time customer of Thomann, I was also very happy with their customer service.

Pros: noise reduction, professionally made, looks great, very fast international shipping

Cons: you will need to invest in a drum rug to put on top, as it is covered in a thin layer of felt that would likely get damaged over time (it recommends this in the assembly instructions).

I purchased this podium to use with a larger a2e edrum setup (3up2down double bass). I wanted something much more stable and better looking than a DYI tennis ball or sylomer riser, which may be cheaper but requires some additional work and planning (and therefore time). Assembly was easy, everything is provided in the kit - just bear in mind that the whole thing weights 31kg and is shipped in 2 boxes (16+15), so you may need some help flipping it up and positioning after you assemble.

I like the overall feel of it when I play and vibrations from the rack and bass pedals are reduced as advertised - downstairs neighbor approved.

The only remark I have, is that the cover that goes around the podium is a bit short to my taste and there is almost no room for overlap from the back side (maybe 1-2cm on each side, it definitely does not go as far as drawn in the assembly manual). At this pricepoint, I'd expect it to wrap all the way around.

Product shipped with no screws and silly request to send back
Unhappy customer 3 08.09.2021
The product was shipped without screws thus completely unusable. When inquired on the screws Thomann asked me to ship the product back which weighs 32kgs and came into 2 massive boxes. When I refused Thomann said they would ship the missing screws but I got no update so I am stuck with a useless product as of now.

Only part of the solution

The build quality is ok-ish, it looks nice and the platform can help you eliminate impact vibrations BUT - not on it’s own at all. Actually the foam rings underneath are so stiff that it even amplified vibrations when placed on a Roland carpet. Perhaps replacing these with sylomer ones it could do the trick but I have not tested this as I was sceptical.
How I used the platform is - I’ve placed it on top of 2.5 cm thick regular foam flooring and added the Roland Noise eater footboards underneath the pedals. Without them the impact noise is still fairly significant (They actually do a 5x better job on their own that the platform itself.) The platform is fairly heavy and solid and will stabilize the drumset when placed on such a foam surface. Only with the combination of all three of these products I was able to reduce the impact vibrations enough for my next door neighbour to not be able to sense them anymore through the wall. Hope this helps someone as I’ve gone mad trying to find a solution for months!
