I really like these strings and have been using them for nearly 10 years .The sound is clear ,full, and even across all strings with a nice touch ...not too raw . I have one complaint tho and would like to know if anybody else has had the same experience .I use these on a ' 95 Fender Am Std Thru Body Jazz Bass and find the G-string to be TOO SHORT and get just about 2 turns on the Tuner post...I like to get 3 full Turns .Stringing is NOT EASY and I have to be really careful how I put the string on otherwise it will keep slipping when tightening .The D,A,E strings all give 3 turns and have to be cut because they are too long but not the G it's just too short.
After E-mailing Thomastik -Infeld about this problem and sending the Strings back I received a new set with the same problem .I got a very noncommittal response saying they have had no other complaints and a second Mail was totally ignored . Thing is, I like them too much to stop using them and when G finally grips the Tuner post ,it does stay in tune but sometimes it's a long haul getting there and a 5 minute job tuns into a 40 min frustrating experience .So it's a case of living with the inconsistencies, but I dread every string- change. NM.

Really different
Sv1k 10.07.2019
These strings feel different since you take them out of the paper envelopes, they are kindvof softer, more flexible than other strings, obviously once installed they also feel different and sound different, very clear acoustic sound, every note rings, magnetically speaking they provide a solid bottom end through a fender original precision pickup. I hope they will also last longer than common strings so it will be worth ordering few sets for the year :)

Beautiful sounding strings but have serious flaws.
TERD 07.02.2019
These strings have become hideously expensive. At these prices they're simply not worth the cost anymore.

Be aware that the G-string is not long enough for Fender-style headstocks with through body stringing.

These strings also have a problem with breakage if you loosen them for adjusting intonation/action etc. and then re-tighten them again. They have a nasty tendency to break just before they're back up to full tension. I've never had them break during normal use but these strings do NOT like to be loosened and re-tightened for setup.

The sound is amazing though. Modern but smooth. The highs are very clear and crisp but not harsh/clanky at all. The mids are beautiful. There's none of that "hollow" sound that many roundwounds suffer from. Very organic and detailed. The lows are solid but not overpowering. Not boomy at all. Perfectly balanced.

Because of the price, the short G-string and the problems with breakage I can't give these strings a top rating. The sound is AMAZING though so if you're not stringing through body, are willing to pay the insane price and can accept the risk of string breakage during setup... Highly recommended! But be aware of the risks.

Nice!
Anonymous 09.01.2015
What great sounding strings these are!

My mate originally turned me onto Thomastik strings and although I paid more than I normally would for a set of strings the extra outlay is more than made up for by such a great tone.

I've used these for DI recording and they really help the bass sound stand out just because of this quality set of strings compared to my previous recordings with them same bass and equipment.

If your looking for something a bit special on your bass then I absolutely recommend these strings - well worth the cash for that extra percentage in tone!

Not bad, but ...

I would not buy anymore. In my view there are plenty of other manufacturers who produce better Round Wound strings like the IN344. I really like the Thomastik JF344 (Flatwounds), but not these ones...

The deep E-string is totally dead - disappointing
mikkelsenbass 13.11.2022
The A-D and G-string have a real nice metallic sound, as you would expect from strings like these. But the deep string (E) is mute and sounds quite different from the other strings. Normally I use the Infield Thomastick flatwound. They are great

great strings!

I use them on a Stingray, the sound is rich, full of harmonics, strings are pleasant at the touch. The only disadvantage is their short life compared to other brands.

Great all-around strings
Anonymous 17.11.2014
I love these strings. It has a nice feel, clear and warm sound, easy on the frets, good quality. Punchy low-end, solid mid-range and smooth treble. Very musical strings that also last long. Great all-around strings!

Why oh why have these been discontinued? :-(
Stuee 15.05.2013
After many years of poo pooing the expensive strings thing, I finally decided to try something new & I have to say that these Thomastiks really do feel and sound fantastic right from the first day (not crazily zingy & brittle when new like a lot of others). They also age gracefully.
I was very sad to discover that the IN344s are being discontinued by Thomastik.
