Bright, clear tone.

Great strings. Probably not the best choice for a smooth, warm tone but to be fair they're not supposed to be. These strings are all about a bright, powerful, clear tone. Not overly aggressive or harsh though and they intonate perfectly within the range of every guitar I've tested them.

I haven't looked up the listed tension for these strings but they feel stiffer than average when compared to similar gauge 010 sets. This is a good thing for a low buzz free action and a tight feel but will also depend on personal taste. I couldn't use them on a Gretsch with a Bigsby, they made the Bigsby way too tight and hard to operate. However, they were great on a Tele with a B-bender even though the longer scale length in theory should have made them even tighter.

The quality of construction seems to be excellent. I've not had any premature breakage and they still sound great after a long period of moderate use.

No complaints, just make sure this is the type of tone/feel you really want. Like many Thomastik strings they've got a very "baked in" tonal character which you may or may not like. Great for a bright, tight, crystal clear tone. Superb for aggressive distortion. Probably not the best choice for warm clean tones or a classic "vintage" sound.

Great Sounding, but durability
Anonymous 29.03.2017
First time trying these, wanted to give them a try after reading a lot of good stuff about them.
I've used them on a Fender Jimi Hendrix Strat, obviously trying to encompass the sound of Hendrix. These strings are great sounding, they give me a fuller sound compared to the nickel wounded I have used previuosly.
However they doesn't seem to last long, after 1 month (playing 1hr/day) especially the D string is starting to show wear at the contact points with the frets, you can feel it when sliding along the string.

c
the best strings

I was shopping for strings for my Gibson Les Paul (sadly, not a real one, an Epiphone copy) and saw that somebody recommended these. I agree entirely that they are the best strings I have ever heard, and they even seem easier to hold down without fret buzz. Excellent!
