A long arm

The TIE Studio Flexible Mic Stand is a practical, budget-friendly desktop mic stand with a mechanical structure that is reminiscent of classic angle-poise lamps with multi-directional, versatile adjustment, and it provides a handy stand that can be used on a daily basis by anyone who needs a desktop mic. There is a standard microphone clamp at the end of the sturdy steel arm which is perfectly suited to the vast majority of dynamic hand-held microphones. It can of course be replaced by any other type of clamp or bracket as long as it has a standard screw thread. The maximum length of the arm is 75cm, which guarantees a wide range of movement in terms of both position and height.

A tried-and-tested system

The mechanism of the TIE Studio Flexible Mic Stand is based on those of spring-loaded lamp bases, an invention developed almost 100 years ago by George Carwadine for his Anglepoise lamp. The hinges allow a great deal of freedom of movement, from completely folded up to the widest extension, and the springs ensure that the lamp stays balanced at all times. It doesn't matter that the object being moved around is a microphone rather than a lamp in this case - after all, a microphone needs to be moved at least as often as a lamp when used in a podcast with multiple speakers, for example. And if it starts to cause an obstruction, it can simply be raised and moved out of the way.

Every which way

A desk stand is the ideal solution for everyone who potentially needs to record their voice from their desk, like radio presenters, podcasters, or singers in a home studio, but it can also be used by sound engineers and producers who may need it to position a talkback mic. What is particularly practical is that the TIE Studio Flexible Mic Stand does not sit on the desk itself, and so takes up very little space. It is attached to the desk using a fixture that looks rather like a clamp. The arm can be freely rotated through 360° around the clamp, and the microphone can always be positioned in exactly the right place.

About TIE Products

TIE Products is a German manufacturer of audio equipment and offers a wide range of products for studio, stage and home use. Though particular focus is placed on microphones of various designs, the product catalogue also includes headphone amplifiers, loudspeakers and Bluetooth earphones. TIE Products explicitly refrains from costly marketing initiatives and instead concentrates its resources entirely on developing products of the highest possible quality at the lowest possible prices. Production takes place in selected factories that also manufacture for larger bigger industry names.

For a better way of working

Home studio users occasionally need to record their vocal ideas so they don't get forgotten, and that is when speed is paramount! The computer is on, the audio console is plugged in, the DAW is running, but what about the mic? Thanks to the TIE Studio Studio Flexible Mic Stand, all the user has to do is grab it and place it right in front of their mouth, without having to adjust any screws. They can then record as many takes as they wish, and when it's time to edit, all they have to do is push the microphone out of the workspace with a sweep of their hand. All of this makes the TIE Studio Studio Flexible Mic Stand invaluable for streamlining the creative process.

So I bought this stand for my AT2020, and the joint which goes into desk clamp has broken after 3 days. Returned and got PSA-1.

Works well as a desk clamp
Jaro69420 06.10.2020
This mic stand works well for the intended purpose, and I would say that for the price, it's worth it.
There are some downsides, as I feel that the clamp should have a wider base, so that some less dense tables don't compress under its weight. Otherwise, the springs work well and don't really have too much or too little tension. There is also the case of the screw that holds the arm itself to the base. It might be hard to twist the arm, as the screw that holds it might be a bit too tight and twist the entire base.
These things aside, I would consider that this microphone stand is well worth the money, and I would recommend it.

You get what you pay for

This is really not up to scratch, quality wise. As soon as I first used it I could not get it manipulated to a good working angle and the mic holder keeps coming loose.

I will buy a better one soon.

At the first year all good but after that it started rusting and not being very stable but you tight the lose screws its gonna do its job. Its ok for a budget option but just be gentle with it, it last longer that way.
