V-Picks Medium Lite Pointed

As many may know, after 35+ years of playing, I switched from my favorite picks, medium Dunlop Tortex, to Red Bear picks. Since then, my playing has really taken on a different dimension. I feel a lot more confident with my playing as these thick, natural feeling picks have made me much more accurate, and really bring out the tone of my guitars. It?s truly amazing!

But over the past weekend, my friend Adam Hernandez of Saint Guitar Company, called me up and told me about his friend Vinni Smith, creator of the V-Pick, another high-end pick. In our conversation, he shared that he had told Vinni about my site, and told him to contact me to see if I?d review his picks.

I had heard of V-Picks from people on the various forums I either lurk or participate in, and I was very curious about them, and wondered how they?d compare to my beloved Red Bears. So I beat Vinni to the punch, and contact him, at which point he said he?d send me a few to check out.

My new go-to pick

Kept thinking about changing from Jazz III picks but did not find an alternative that fits my style of playing.
Long story short - pulled the trigger and bought this V-Pick - I do not think that I'll be changing it in the near future. It feels like it was made for my playing style. Grip is good and the shape is fantastic (even though at first I had some doubts about it).
Overall top notch quality and I recommend it to everybody to at least give it a try and you'll see that you'll be surprised by it.

Mein neues Lieblingspick!

Also ich dachte erst an einen Verkaufsgag oder so was, als ich den Preis für das Teil sah. Aber ich wollte es doch mal probieren....und hey....ich spiele nur noch dieses Pick. Sehr kraftvoller Klang. Es bleibt auch bei schnellen Licks nicht hängen und es lässt sich sehr leicht spielen. Entgegen meiner ersten Eistellung liegt es auch sicher in der Hand.

Einziges Manko: Das Ding ist durchsichtig. Länger und öfter habe ich noch nie ein Pick gesucht!!! .....auch der Edding war dann gleich abgespielt ;-)

Dieses Plek hat mein Gitarrenlehrer in einem seiner Videos empfohlen. Na ja, dann probiere ich es einfach mal aus.

Da bis jetzt relativ weiche Pleks gespielt habe (Dava Grip Tip Nylon Picks) und noch immer spiele, wollte ich mal ein hartes Plek testen.

Grundsätzlich ist das ein tolles Plek. Trotz der glatten Oberfläche rutscht das keinen Millimeter weg. . Das hätte ich so nicht erwartet.
Es flutsch auch echt gut über die Saiten und bleibt nicht hängen (sofern man es nicht parallel zu den Saiten nutzt).

Für mich es es trotzdem (noch) nichts. Ich bin kein Shredder, dafür übe ich zu wenig und zu unregelmäßig. Ich müsste mich an das neue Plek erst gewöhnen, dann könnte das funktionieren.
Was mich aber stört ist, das beim Anschlag der umwickelten Saiten Kratzgeräusche macht. Das ist kein Problem dieses Pleks, sondern weil es einfach hart ist. Ich hab mir auch noch ein paar andere harte Pleks zum testen gekauft und es ist bei allen das selbe. Alle kratzen bei meiner Spielweise. Ist wahrscheinlich ein Haltungsfehler von mir, aber warum soll ich etwas austauschen das funktioniert und mir damit extra Arbeit machen?

Ein echter Kritikpunkt ist (und das gab auch einen Stern Abzug), wenn das Plek runterfällt und kann die Suche etwas dauern. Weil es so toll durchsichtig ist, findet man es auf Teppich nur schwer. Das kann richtig nervig werden. Fällt das bei einem Live Gig runter ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit gar nicht so klein, das man 6,90 Euro für ein neues ausgeben darf. Und der Preis ist schon ordentlich für das Stück Kunststoff. Aber ich habe bis jetzt noch keinen Kratzer oder Macke in das Plek gespielt. Anscheinend ist es auch die 6,90€ Wert.
