My favourite reeds for any contemporary, funk, modern music.

These Green Javas tend to be softer than the other Vandoren reeds which makes them really flexible and perfect for all jazz, especially contemporary styles of jazz such as funk and smooth jazz. They allow the embouchure to do much of the work which makes them fab for runs, falls, and glissando which I consider staple vocab of contemporary jazz I find that with the right set up altissimo just pops out, and even with a not so good set-up they massively reduce the resistance needed to produce a quality tone altissimo.

If classic jazz is your thing the Red Javas or Vandoren Jazz are the one for you (If you are a Vandoren-holic). As they are Vandoren the quality is not rated so highly purely because they are mass manufactured and id say that between 1/3 & 2/3 in the box are not high quality performing reeds however still good.

As I said my go-to reeds for that contemporary sound!!! :-)

Good quality reeds and consistent, I tried loads of different reed manufacturer’s and these weren’t quite right for me but they are very good and plenty of others do get on really well with them so bit of a personal thing.
