Balanced sticks

Can't go wrong with these. Good quality, quite cheap, it look like they will last for some time and the nylon head is safer for e-drums.

IS
Standard, for those who prefer 5A
Igor Sedov 24.07.2018
I tried different sticks, long, short, thick, thin, from different types of wood and with different tips. But I stopped at these, for playing light music, for clear, not strong accents on cymbals. For rock, I prefer the same, but with a wooden tip.

Balanced, for me, in all respects, weight, length, thickness and service life. If you are a beginning drummer, take these sticks, you will not go wrong.

Great feel and sound
OliverAhn 27.03.2020
I have used these sticks for the past MANY years - primarily used in playing metal, where they have a nice attack due to the nylon tip. They especially make the ride sound good for metal music.

They are nicely balanced and durable. No reason not to buy them, unless you go for a more "soft" sound.

Personal favourite

I've played on them for 10+ years now and can't think of changing them any time soon. I like the feel of wood but the nylon tip means the tip will last and works with my electronic drum pad well enough. Quality is pretty solid and they last relatively long, at least compared to other sticks I've used.

not a real drummer

I am not an every day drummer so for me these sticks last for the year. I bought 1 pair when the pandemic started and managed to break those a year later :)

Best value for money

Classic 5a stick works for virtually all musical situations, legendary quality, sticks are indeed matched and perfectly straight. It's my second time buying this pack and I'm very satisfied

I was quite surprised to find out that one stick is 1 gram less in weight than the other: 54.2 vs 55.2 grams (while the packaging states that they're weight-matched). If that means they're matched with 1gr tolerance, then they're right. But I wasn't expecting this from Vic Firth. I also have a 5AF pair from TAMA, and the difference is only 0.1gr. I use a 0.1gr precision electronic scale for measuring.

D
Most popular size for speed, comfort and power!
David5140 14.03.2014
The title says it all, basically. The 5A size (and 5B) sizes are the most popular sizes for drumsticks because they are comfortable (not too heavy) but not too light either. They provide the perfect balance for speed and power.
The nylon tip also provides the brighter sound, especially on cymbals, when compared to wood tips which give a warmer sound.
Also, the tear drop shape of the tip is the 'best of both worlds' when it comes to surface area. The pointy tip provides articulated sounds on cymbals and the rest of the tip's larger surface area provides full tone.
Personally, I tried the other version of these drumsticks with the anti-slip coating but it felt a little sticky. That is not to say that it's a bad thing. Maybe it's best for drummers who play with gloves instead of bare hands.
I prefer this type without the anti-slip coating.

A
Classic feel with a great articulation
AntonV 29.04.2022
Vic Firth as usual provides a great quality stick. The 5A size is a proven classic that has been used for decades. Having tried almost every stick on the market I tend to come back to this one.

I switch between a wooden tip 5a and a nylon tip 5a. Nylon is great in a jazz context where I need a very articulate ride cymbal sound. This stick can help to achieve that with thinner cymbals for example.

Another benefit of nylon is that the stick will last literally forever because tip usually breaks first reducing the stick sound.
