I wanted to try these brushes for a change from the usual Vic Firth HB - the purple ones - and I feel like snapping accents into the head is more difficult and it doesn't sound as good as with the HB and that is because the handle is made of plastic, which also affects the way these brushes feel in your hands.
The wires are a bit too stiff for me, but I could see other musicians making great use of them. I know for a fact many drummers use them and they sound just great in their hands.

Good quality, but not for me.
Anonymous 10.09.2014
First i have to say that Vic Firth always has high standard on quality, so does this product.
I ordered these brushes to start playing jazz music but quickly figured out that the metal stick is not for me. With the wrong technique drumheads can be damaged, and also on cymbals the sound is not ideal. They're also quite heavy which i really don't like.

I would highly recommend Vic Firth HB Heritage Brushes instead, especially for jazz music.
Its rubber stick lie comfortably in the hand, weighs a lot less and creates a great sound while slapping on drumheads or cymbals.

Decent. Hard to pull out and push in, and mine kinda broke after just a day.

You have to really pull hard on them to retract the brushes, and when I did that, the black plug at the bottom on one of them got pulled out of its socket. I've heard other people encounter this problem, but was still surprised as to how fast it happened. I had only used them for a day. The brushes themselves sound good, and feel good, but the construction and quality could have been a lot better. Not my best buy.
