R
WA 47Jr
Ranj 27.06.2019
I have a small home studio, I record my own stuff mostly and have just started going out and recording some bands I play with. I haven't used the mic much.

I recorded guitar bass and drums recently in a small hall. Used it on the bass amp and got nice big warm sound.

Where I have liked it most at the moment, is using a Fathead ii ribbon (body) and Neuman TLM 102 (neck) on the acoustic guitar and then the 47Jr for my (male) vocal. It seems without too much mixing the 47Jr sits above the guitar in a pleasing way. I'm getting up out my chair to sing because it feels good.

On my Martin it seems to capture lots of detail. Need to do more with it to see what is going on.

In my mind and ears it seems to cut out a space in the mix for what I am recording without the need for too much in the way of plugins etc.. As for whether it sounds like anything else I wouldn't know and don't much care, I liked the way it sounded in the ads that Warm Audio did and bought it off the back of mostly what I heard of the vocal takes in those ads. It seems to have a presence that I didn't have in my other mics.

It is not as bright as my Bluebird, seems to be smoother (less brittle) than my Oktava 319. The TLM 102 hasn't got some of the higher frequency detail. The Cascade mic is different thing all together. All completely subjective in a box room where I go to play.

All in all I am enjoying playing and singing to this mic, which after a s*** day at work makes me happy.

Strange noise and the cable does not holding
zzzzzzz 18.01.2021
Have bought this mic for a figure of eight in mid side recording. Wasn't able to check anything because of two connection problems were found. The first one is noise, as if the wind is blowing. Second one is when the cable is plugged into the microphone, the mechanism does not snap into place. The scope of delivery and quality inspires a lot of confidence in this microphone, but unfortunately I could not enjoy any of this and today it will be sent back.

UPD: Replacing the microphone helped and came a new one that does not make noise. But the second problem remains - the cable does not snap into the microphone. I would say excellent sound for the money.

Good

I chose this condenser and not others that reddit users have recommended is because this mic is used by a singer with a same singing vibe as mine. And I am glad I chose this instead. Last time I listen to reddit about mic recommendation like the Shure M58, I brought it and well, it was ok but not as good as this condenser. Even though I know M58 is a dynamic and stuffs. However, this mic can even record loud vocals well if you position it good, but not the Shure M58 that I brought here at Thomann. Aint dynamic mics suppose to be good at recording loud vocals with its details? Well apparently if you got good positioning with this condenser WA-47jr, it can record the loud vocals together with the clear details of the vocal, while M58 can only record them however on a basic level, with no vocal details whatsoever, just the sound, if you know what I mean. Well I am not to say this condenser records perfectly. My recordings still have some distortion recording through this mic. I don't know the underlying issue for it as for now. However, since my vocals are good, it can compensate for a little distortion for a non studio recording.
