Very good Mixer
Morph3us 13.02.2019
This mixer is very good and its positive features far out-weigh the negative ones. The number of features and sound quality are very good, The sound effects and especially the USB dac are very useful. Overall it is an amazing mixer, however it has few minor negative things.

- I still cannot understand why they removed the mid range equalizer from the stereo inputs, it is not a big deal but i have other mixers and all of them have mid range on both xlr/mic and stereo inputs. The build quality is good but it could be better, the knobs flex more than they should and their feel when rotating them is not the nicest I have felt.

On a side note, I have a big question about the phantom power and the combo jacks (1-4) I have asked 3 - thomann, my local yamaha dealer and yamaha europe, My concern is if the phantom power effect the centre jack socket of the combo jacks. 2 of the 3 entities I asked told me they are not effected whilst thomann live chat told me that the connections are common so the phantom power effect the central jack too. I am still not sure, so for now I cannot use 1-3 and 2-4 as left and right stereo inputs with a jack plug in case it damages my devices.

If the phantom power effect the centre jack of channels 1-4 I would give this unit 6/10, but if it only effect the xlr of those 4 combo jacks I would totally recommend this device and give it 8/10.

Quality sound and a lot for the money
Mydogspies 24.09.2021
I bought this mixer for our project studio as the main interface for anything computer based. Having loads of experience from the top end of live audio I never really favored Yamaha in any way but I have to say I am pleasantly surprised about what this little thing can do. It's well built, with proper pre-amps on four of the 10 channels, nice gain structure but most importantly, it sounds very good for such a cheap mixer.

It ended up doubling as the ASIO interface for the main work station and it's doing just fine although we had to download the latest drivers from Yamaha before we got it working. If you experience intermittent noise on the outputs, it's a driver problem on Win 10. Under Ubuntu on the Linux side it works flawlessly out of the box though.

If any critique what so ever, I would say I miss a mix bus. A single mono bus would even blow the competition out. Other than that, the controls are small and can be a tiny bit fiddly but that's the logical price for such a compact unit. The built in FX bus based on the SPX engine is just that. If you are ok with any Yamaha SPX series, you will be ok with this. But it's not a Lexicon for sure! Finally the compressor just about ok for say streamers, but honestly, it's nothing I would ever use.

All in all, fantastic mixer that within the price range, beats an competition provided you ignore the compressor and lack of mixing busses.

Yamaha MG10 XU

I got this product as a "easy" set up, next to my big/robust console, so recording small bands, singer-songwriters or podcasts didn't require an entire setup. This one is permanently "part of my gear".

Super fun to use and I can imagine it speaks to a broad public: singer-songwriters, small bands, podcasts, just people that want control of all their audio in- and out their PC,...

Without having to change my setup I can use this for Skype and live events, recording or just listening to music. The build in FX are very fun to play around with. All my cables going to the same device: it's heaven for someone who wants their cable management as clean as possible.

It was easy to set up, drivers installed without any problems. Good build quality. And, very easy to use. Not a bad word about this product: one of my best investments!

Optimal mixer även för nybörjare
Tomaso 03.01.2015

Ljudkvalitén, den inbyggda ljudprocessorn är imponerande.

Sammanfattning:
Välljudande, mycket enkel att använda, attraktivt pris
Jag rekommenderar köp.

R
Excellent little mixer, portable, robust, great sound
Ruaille 21.01.2019
I have used this mixer for a couple of years with a 3 piece folk group and everything still works perfectly. It is very easy to use and packs a lot of features for its price point. It?s also very portable - I can fit it in the front pocket of my acoustic gig bag.

It?s made of high quality material and feels like it could take a beating - though mine has been treated with care. All the knobs have a smooth travel and a notch for centering where applicable (EQ, Pan). I have had a few mixers around this price point and this one definitely felt the most premium. I also got the BMS10A Stand Adapter to sit it on a mic stand and it felt very secure.

The sound is crystal clear and you get a decent amount of control. The compression on channels 1 and 2 work great for vocals and I usually set them sbout half way every gig. I wanted a mixer with compression from a reputable brand and the MG10XU delivered.

Overall a great mixer, would definitely recommend.

EM
An RTFM but well worth the buy!
Emile Michel Hobo 27.08.2019
You have to Read The F* Manual! Recording is at first a technical challenge, only after that a creative challenge. Get your setup right, including how the mixer works and look into room acoustics, because yours most likely suck.

You also need to consider what you’re doing : are you recording a whole band or just one instrument or a combination of instruments? It offers a lot of options, including fun effects that you can approach individually but not all at the same time. It’s a wonderful tool, but you need to learn to work with it.

For instance, use the software monitor instead of the built-in monitor when recording, because that’s the sound you’re really recording. Pan full left for the recording instrument and full-right for the playback of what you already have. Only record the left audio-output to make sure that the playback isn’t automatically mixed into the recording of the instrument if you don’t want that.

Get a book on mixing and mastering.

Did I mention that you can download Cubase AI to record your songs when you buy this? For free? I need few words to describe it’s awesome, but many more to illustrate the options. Great buy!

Great mixer
Vuko 24.03.2021
I have been using this mixer for a few years now.
It's great.
Superb build quality

Mostly used live with
2 mics (ch1 and 2),
guitar (ch4)
piano (ch5/6)
phone(ch7/8).

Easy to use and very pretty layout. Although this is a matter of taste.
Good built in reverb effects as well.

Came with cubase but that's not my DAW so a great addition if you are looking for one. I recommend Ableton myself.

Use this for live gigs or as a usb mixer.
Bands, singer/songwriters, podcasts etc will all be loving this mixer!
Maybe as a podcast you could use a smaller version.

Still great mixer and brought it with me to many gigs.
If you treat it nicely it will last a long time.

Great mid-range mixer
Sparkyatoz 11.02.2019
Great product from Yamaha. I use to mix DJ deck and 3 karaoke mics. Translates the the sound from deck with no noticeable affect on clarity (always use good quality cables). Mics (Sure SM58s) sound sharp on any level and FX nice to have, but for my work, not absolutely essential. EQs of hi, mid, lo's is fine... If you're looking for a mix deck that you set and forget without too many variables within a gig/session. If you're you are looking for subtle nuances during the set I think you'd need to upgrade to something more sophisticated. Sliders instead of knobs would be nice, but with a convenient small footprint perhaps Yamaha thought that was an unavoidable trade-off. I've used most weekends on the road for past 6 months and it's proved a solid and trustworthy piece of kit. Strongly recommend purchase of Thomann Mix Case 4046A to keep your investment safe.

Solid Little Mixer
ElFordo 07.02.2018
This is a solid little mixer.
Great sound, lots of features for price range.

I bought it for home studio use primarily for live electronic music jams and secondly for singer songwriter recording.

Sound - Routing drum machines and synths through this straight to monitors I have to say, the sound is phenomenal. Its big and bold and carries all the analogue weight you can give it.
There's not too much white noise or hiss when recording more subtle guitars or vocals either.

Size - Its fits very neatly and discreetly into any setup, as it physically only takes up about 25m x 30cm
There's also the option to buy a bracket allowing you to mount it to a mic stand, which is obviously very useful if you're stuck for table space.

Build - Its a dense little unit, with a steel casing, and feels robust enough that it could take a bit of beating going between live shows (although mine has never left the studio, so I can't testify to that)

Effects - A basic set of digital effects that aren't amazing but certainly add another welcome feature - for the price point, you cannot complain.

Pros
Great value
Strong build
Great sound

Cons
Slightly crowded controls
No faders
No cues/mutes
