Compact entry-level model

Black Yamaha P-145 B stage piano

The P-145 is the entry-level model of Yamaha's P series digital pianos. Thanks to its redesigned keyboard, the Yamaha P-145 features a slightly lower weight and more compact dimensions than the predecessor model, but at the same time offers a very realistic playing feel and premium sound quality. All this makes the P-145 a very convenient alternative to an acoustic piano or large digital piano for players who have only limited space available at home or who want to take their instrument with them to piano lessons, live gigs, or sessions with friends on a regular basis. Its great ease of use, small but exquisite selection of instrument voices, and built-in speaker system with a Sound Boost function allow the portable P-145 to be easily played just about everywhere. Practising along with a fixed tempo is also a breeze thanks to the integrated metronome, and the Duo function even allows the keyboard to be played by two players at once.

Yamaha P-145 B with weighted keys

Straightforward digital piano

The Yamaha P-145 comes with a newly developed GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) keyboard with heavier keys in the bass register and lighter keys in the treble register for an acoustic piano-like playing feel, which makes it great for beginners who want to prepare for playing a real hammer-action keyboard. The Yamaha P-145 piano offers the full range of 88 keys, which allow even demanding pieces of Classical music to be played, and a selection of ten instrument voices, including grand and electric pianos, organs, strings, accordion, and harpsichord. The sound of the P-145 was sampled from a Yamaha CFIIIS full concert grand piano that features a damper resonance function. Two voices (grand piano and strings) can also be layered in Dual mode to create a particularly distinctive sound. The keyboard provides all the necessary inputs for connecting the sustain pedal that is included in the scope of delivery, optional headphones, and a computer or tablet PC using a suitable USB cable.

For ambitious learners

The Yamaha P-145 is perfect for beginners with a serious interest in playing the piano. Its keyboard is not only comfortable to play but also introduces players to a more demanding weighted acoustic playing feel in order to prepare for a hammer action keyboard. The P-145 piano is easy to transport thanks to its ultra-compact dimensions and low weight of just 11kg, and for stationary use at a single location, the P-145 can be mounted on the optional Yamaha L-100 stand, and further complemented by the optional Yamaha LP-5A 3-pedal unit with damper, sostenuto, and soft functions for an even more authentic acoustic piano playing feel. The Duo function allows two players, e. g. student and teacher, to play the P-145 together as a duo by splitting the keyboard into two sections with the same octave range on the left and right side.

About Yamaha

For decades, Yamaha has been one of the world's best-known manufacturers of musical instruments and audio technology. The Japanese company's long history began at the end of the 19th century with the harmonium. The product range has constantly expanded since then, which has made Yamaha one of the few manufacturers today to offer almost the entire range of existing musical instruments: From upright and grand pianos to guitars, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments and from drums and percussion to electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Yamaha is also a major force in the field of audio engineering as a manufacturer of mixing consoles, amplifiers, PA systems, and more. Yamaha's guiding principle is to combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology.

"Smart Pianist" as a practice partner

The scope of delivery of the Yamaha P-145 also includes a sheet music holder that is very easy to insert into the slot above the keys to hold printed music and books or even a smartphone or tablet PC, which can be connected to the keyboard via USB/MIDI or a separately available Yamaha UD-BT01 Bluetooth MIDI adapter (only for iOS). Yamaha's free "Smart Pianist" app for smart devices offers a wide range of useful digital functions, such as the display of sheet music, convenient song playback via MIDI for listening and practising along to a song, and comfortable remote control of the keyboard settings (depending on the connected model).

Simple and does what it's supposed to do
Anonimoos.rs 31.10.2024
I've bought this piano to learn to actually play instead of just hitting the keys as I did on synths. I've searched for something that could easily connect to iPad and to return the signal to speakers (like AUX over USB) while also processing midi, since it's easy to hook up to apps and still hear the piano and the apps (it's working like a sound card), so it's great.

Headphones work with that as well. The keys have a nice feel (for me, this is first piano so I can't compare to anything), it has nice dynamics and that's the biggest difference between synth or midi controller feel.

I only use the piano sound and I've bought it to play piano, I'm not interested in other sounds. I have my computer with Arturia and other plugins/instruments for that, I just wanted a simple on/off piano that can connect to apps so it's easier to learn and it's a simple setup, and this is it.

I've got it with K&M 18993 stand and it's rock solid.

Next step, when I learn piano a bit more is to get MODX6+ and use this piano as a controller for it. It's kinda the same price as if I get MODX8+, but if I surpass this keybed I can get another one while still having MODX6+, which would be redundant with 88 key version.

9000/10 rating :)

Love the feel of the keyboard and the way they’ve updated the preset functions. The updated Organ sounds are superb. It’s a worthy successor.

Minimal, with maximum essense
Ali7abeeb 10.01.2024
I have always wanted a piano, and every time I want to buy one I get freaked out by the amount of buttons and formulas I find on pianos, which were not visually appealing to me. However, when I found out about Yamaha P-145, I got some goosebumps because it literally fits all I needed.

When I got the Yamaha P145 at first, my first impression was "this thing is well-built". And I could feel it. Like, sometimes, I just be appreciating the moment I got it because it's so heavenly made. It feels like wood but I am not sure what the actual material is. Also, the keys feel like acoustic pianos even though it's a digital piano, which takes me to the sound quality. It is so good that when I compared it to an acoustic piano, I noticed no difference. I also liked how there are few functions because even though there isn't like a gazillion function, they made these 10 as good as they could be, which fits a beginner like me. And I am really thankful for the fact that Thomann provided me with two free subscription platforms to learn playing.

I highly recommend this keyboard because it is, for real, made for beginners who don't like to be confused by the multitude of functions, who like a compact design, and also appreciate sound beauty.
