Excellent for practice, recording and gigs
SDE 04.01.2021
I like this guitar very much.
It is not a "real" classical guitar, and under optimal conditions the acoustic sound of an high-end classical guitar (which costs a lot more than this one) is better. However, if you have to amplify your sound or to record it, this is A LOT better. When I record using my home equipment, the sound of my classical guitar is not nearly as good as the sound I get from the Yamaha silent. Maybe using expensive studio equipment this would be different, but in any case the Yamaha silent gives you an excellent sound with a very simple setup.
Of course, it is very useful also for practicing: you hear the sound from the strings so that you can practice even without headphones, but with no resonating body you can practice for hours as long as you close the door of your room, and nobody in the house will complain.
I choose the version with 50mm neck width (the "classical" size is 52mm), but the difference is minimal and is only positive - I have no problems even with difficult positions of the left hand. A minor problem is the weak strap attachment.

Very impresed
General Ni 10.06.2019
It's the first guitar that I bought without having played it first and I can say that I haven't regret it!
It's small and light so It's perfect for traveling.
The quality and the construction in general is great, with the only problem on the strap button on the bridge side, that also works as a nut to lock the detachable upper frame, that has the tendency to loosen up, so I always have to keep my mind on it, to prevent the risk of loosening completely and of the guitar falling down.
The playability is very good and the features included are more that I could ask. The only thing that I would like different is that I can't use the jack output and the headphones output both at the same time, it's either one or the other. I find that a little strange, since it could have given more possibilities.
The sound especially with the SRT sound system is just great. I think it has some extra bass frequencies but nothing that I can't fix with the built in bass equalizer.
The fact that there are no feedback problems makes it perfect for using it live, something that I do all the time.
Overall a great guitar that I highly recommend.

Probably my favourite guitar in 20 years
xmac 22.12.2021
Been playing Electric guitar for 20 years with dabbling in classical/fingerstyle on occasion. I decided to buy the Yamaha Silent guitar (Nylon) to put my practice into overdrive at any time, day or night. I've had it for a month now and I haven't used another guitar. If you are an electric playing transitioning to classic/fingerstyle, this thing is brilliant.

The preamp is what it is, you can do so many thing that you can already read about on the guitar's item description. As a first time owner, I'm thoroughly impressed with the technology.

If you're a pro and got a pedantic ear, you might find some issues with sound for recordings but if you don't take yourself THAT seriously and know that this is not a 'replacement' for a natural classical guitar and maybe is only a practice guitar, with headphones on it sounds pretty amazing and is an easy 5/5.

The guitar feels real good, it's got a nice neck, could probably do with a bit of a lower action, and it does NOT feel cheap. Probably one of the tougher decisions with this guitar is choosing which colour you want.

I'm seriously considering getting the steel string version of this guitar.

Beautiful Guitar
DMoney 19.04.2020
Looks and sounds beautiful. After 2 years of ownership my only issue is that the retaining thumbscrew for the detachable side of the frame works itself loose over time. Not a huge issue as you can feel it start to wobble a bit and can quickly tighten it again without a tool, but it can be annoying as it happens fairly regularly

The Yamaha SLG200N TBS
Silent Guitar is just what I was looking for. The features and sound is incredibly superb. Its lightweight design and quick assembly plus breakdown is great for less time consumption. I’m very satisfied with this classical guitar.
