Good amp for the price
Danilo T 16.06.2021
It is a good amp, however it has a few negatives. I play mainly rock, r'n'b, blues, funk etc. so I mostly focus on the clean and crunch sounds.
Let's start with the positive things. The amp is really light and it looks really good. So you can keep it in your living room on the bookshelf of wherever. Since it also works as a bluetooth speaker, you can use it as a speaker for the room. The sound of a bluetooth speaker when playing music is ok and it is loud enough. The amp has many features, mobile app, USB recording and all that. So, packed with features.
Sound of the amp is ok. To be honest, I expected more after reading and watching the reviews on the internet. Maybe small, BT amps with small speakers are just not for me. To my ears, Boss Katana 50 sounded much better. As did the Fender Tone Master Deluxe, but that one is much more expensive. But again, sound is not bad, it was just not as good as I expected. A little bit too artificial.
The other problem with the sound is that volume levels really differ between channels. Clean is really quiet, Crunch is louder, and the others are much louder. I expect that for same master volume/gain/volume settings to be the similar loudness. But that's not the case. Again, this is not a big problem, since you won't be switching amps all the time.
The mobile app could use some UX improvements. Not everything is logical or user friendly, but you get used to it pretty quickly.
My biggest problem with the amp was that mine was defective. It has a loud high frequency squeaking sound, especially audible on single coil guitars. On humbuckers you can still hear it but barely. I read that it happens on some of the yamaha amps, but not too often. So I was probably unlucky.
Fortunately, I bought it at Thomman, so I didn't have any problems returning it.

Amazing bedroom amp
Boone_ 04.12.2019
It sounds amazing and dialing a good tone has never been easier. It also has bluetooth and can be used as a wireless speaker to play along or just listen to music. I can't tell you how good it sounds but there is certainly some magic going on because the sound that comes our of this tiny speaker is so spacious and clear that it blew my mind away. It sounds much, much better than the Katana IMHO.
I expected more features though, it has all the basics but lacks some nice effects that I would've wanted especially a looper. There are some features hidden in the software provided by them so you have to use it to access those features, this might be off-putting for some people but it's easy enough to do it either wirelessly from your phone or with a usb-b cable from your PC so I don't really mind.
The amount of presets to choose from is good and it's even more when using the software and all of them sound amazing.
The quality however is worse than on the previous generation, the body is now made from plastic too and is not completely metal. You can't power the amp from batteries anymore feature that I would've liked and I miss the old power switch.
Overall I would highly recommend this amp, it might not the best bang for the buck but it's certainly the most convenient solution for home use and practicing since it's so small that it fits anywhere without any compromise to the sound and it's use extends beyond guitar practice since it can be used as an amazing bluetooth speaker.

Good amp
random_bum 19.11.2024
It's a nice amp. Sounds good, it is easy to control and it is quite loud for the size. Looks pretty solid (in terms of quality) also.
The only thing that bothers me (I'm not sure if it is the amp, the cable or the firmware) is that there is a significant latency while recording. I previously had the THR5 and never had that issue. Also, the quality of the sound when using it as a speaker could be better.

This is such a great little combo/speaker! It looks great and sounds great for a guitar and good for other audio (a bit thin in my opinion, but hey...). Very versatile product: I use it as PC speaker, bluetooth speaker and, of course, guitar combo. Also, it si quite loud - I haven't even tested it to it's full loudness in my apartment.

The only thing I miss is the Modern/Boutique/Classic switch of the bigger brother, but than again, I could buy that one. Besides, you can set this up via an app in your phone or on computer.
Oh, and maybe an effect loop would be great too, but this is marketed as a practice amp anyway.

Honestly, I haven't abused all the sounds yet, but the ones I've tried I use all the time. They are really stunning and wanting me to play all the time. What more can you ask of the guitar combo?

Great practice amp
t.szabo 06.11.2021
This amp has great options from the get-go, with lots of effects and many channels built in. To fully unlock the true potential of this amp, I'd recommend running it in tandem with the desktop app (or mobile app) to fully customize your sound. You can also use this as a recording tool which only makes it even more handy!

It’s perfect for playing at home. It’s small, nice. It would be better if it had a drum option.

A neat little amp that fits anywhere
Pooka 28.05.2022
It’s not as feature-packed as a Katana, but it’s also not a large box taking up scarce floor space! It sits neatly in my bookcase, with an excellent sound quality and more than enough power to annoy the rest of the household. For those who play six and four strings, the ability to accept guitar and bass is a definite bonus.
You really need the free app to get the most out of the amp as it offers better control of the effects and reverb/delay, as well as the ability to change the cabinet emulation.
And if you’re using the USB port to connect to DAW software, you can set it just to record the dry signal and add effects later, irrespective of how you have your presets or controls arranged.

I am really excited.
just I do not like the quality of Bluetooth sound . it is very flat, no Bass. and the level is not as much as guitar amp. But not important, I use the bluetooth for the app and works great.

Great Practice Amp for the Money
Lord_Cruz 02.11.2020
Use: I use this Amp as a practice amp at home, but it's powerful enough for other uses.
I love this Amp. I'm 30+, and I wanted something a little more subtle that would fit in nicely in any living room. I find it very nice looking and solid. The more I use it the more I discover about it. Now i have it set up with the USB out going to an iPad, which I use to read tabs, and I use Tonebridge for effects that go with the song I'm learning, and the sound comes back from the iPad to the Amp, with no delay, I notice. It's possible to have the Guitar input, iPad input (through USB), Aux Input and Bluetooth input at the same time!
Pros: Great look, light (but feels and is well built), sounds great, has enough effects and settings to keep anyone happy while practicing. Impressive input/output configuration.
Con: It would be nice to have the Lithium Battery one, so I could play power cable fee. It is still 100 euro more, and if I was going to buy a battery version with wireless capability, the Yamaha THR30IIW is only a little more.
