I played the clarinet for 8 years before university. The instrument I used was rented from the music school, I myself never owned a clarinet. 15 years later I wanted to play again so I started a research about intermediate level wooden instruments. After narrowing down the choices I needed to decide between a Buffet Crampon E13, Yamaha YCL 450 and Yamaha YCL 650. I managed to try them out in few different local shops (much more expensive than Thomann), and found that even the model YCL 450 had better build quality than a Buffet (on which the ring on the bell could freely rotate for instance). Between YCL 450 and 650 I decided to go for the latter, as it sounded more rounder and sophisticated.
The whole instrument is solid yet light, made of beautiful grenadilla wood (with some nice dark grain), the keywork is perfect. I highly recommend this product for intermediate players who would like to play on a quality instrument. The compact packaging and box is also a pro.
