AER Dual Mix 2 Pocket Tool

I do a lot of small restaurant gigs where space is a premium and I use my AER Compact 60 which handles the duties exceptionally. Occasionally, I also play with another vocalist and I wanted something compact and easy to use that I could add to give me a couple of extra channels. This is exactly what I was looking for!

What is essentially a two-channel preamp mixer offering the same features and controls as my Compact 60, I can run this into the FX return on the amp and it turns the Compact 60 into a four-channel amp. Perfect.

Additional features include a simple effects section which means I can have more (or less) effects on the vocals than on the guitar, 24v phantom power available to switch on to either channel independently, and an aux in with its own level control should I want to add some backing tracks or have music playing in-between sets.

It's very small size makes it incredibly portable and again, means that on those gigs where space is tight, it can sit unobtrusively, right on top of the amp and deliver everything I need. On larger gigs, I run a line out of the amp into a powered speaker and I've got everything I need for great sound in a very small, compact rig.

Sure, there are cheaper mixers out there that will do a similar job but the build and sound quality of this little gem is worth every single penny and then some.

Hatte zuerst einen AER als B-Stock Angebot gekauft. Da steckte der Hohlstecker des Netzteils nicht tief bzw. fest genug im Gerät. Umgetauscht und draufgezahlt für ein nagelneues AER: Hatte leider das gleiche Problem. Beim dritten Gerät hat es dann gepasst. Hier großen Dank an Thomann, die das dritte Gerät dann vor dem Versand kontrolliert haben. Auch mit AER gab es gute Kommunikation.

Ich benutzte den DUAL Mix um meine Gitarre mit einem externen dynamischen Mikrofon abzunehmen. Jetzt habe ich Gitarre mit 2 internen Kond-Mikrofonen bestückt. Der zweite Kanal regelt meine Stompbox.
FAZIT: Klang bei beiden Mikro-Varianten ist wirklich gut. Der Mikropreamp verstärkt hervorragend und ist rauscharm.

Aber für das Geld finde ich einige Details sehr ärgerlich:

- Es gibt keinen MUTE Schalter an dem Gerät. Geht nur mit optionalen Fußschalter. Ich habe jetzt einen Stereoklinkenstecker kurzgeschlossen und stecke den in das AER, wenn ich ein Instrument wechseln möchte oder zwischen MIC und INSTR- Eingang umschalten muss.

- Umschalten von MIC auf INST Eingang geht nur mit lautem Krachen (Wird aber in der Anleitung auch drauf hingewiesen)

- Vermisse ein Gewinde, dass man das AER auf ein Mikrostativ schrauben kann, um es auf der Bühne in Reichweite zu haben.

- Der kurze Hall ist für meinen Geschmack schon sehr lang. Schwer zu dosieren.

- Der Chorus ist trocken. Wäre sinnvoll gewesen, ihn mit einem Hall zu kombinieren. So finde ich ihn unnütz.

- Die 2 Klangregelung ist wirklich sehr musikalisch und für die meisten Anwendungen ausreichend. Aber kann man bei dem Preis nicht auch einen LOW Cut und einen parametrischen Mittenregler erwarten?.

Hatte vorher das Headway EDB-1 ausprobiert. Ist wesentlich preiswerter. Ich fand aber den Mikropreamp schlechter und das Gerät hat keinen eingebauten Hall. Also zum AER gewechselt. SOUND ist top, aber aus o.g. Gründen bin ich nicht vollkommen glücklich.

Lo utilizo para manejar a distancia mi Aer C-60. Conecto mi guitarra flamenca (1 canal para la salida del piezo electrico + 1 señal para mi micrófono de condensador con toma Phantom) y desde mi emplazamiento puedo regular la ecualización a mi gusto mezclando las dos tomas. Un buen previo. Un poco caro, todo hay que decirlo, pero de calidad. Echo en falta el botón de los medios, aunque en realidad anda suficientemente equilibrado. Otro aspecto de agradecer es que lleva incorporado el selector de reverberación. La misma conexión de entrada sirve tanto para Jack como para Canon. Aunque su nombre sugiere que puede meterse en el bolsillo, de eso nada. Lo suyo es colocarlo sobre una superficie plana, por sus dimensiones y sobre todo por la conexión del alimentador de red. El diseño es elegante y robusto. Viene con dos estuches (mezclador y alimentador) que lo protegen bien. Por el precio que tiene podría haberse incluido una salida estéreo. No obstante, en general es un producto muy recomendable.
