Intelligent routing for the studio

The Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig is an audio and MIDI interface with 16 analogue inputs and 12 analogue outputs that is designed to allow a whole synthesizer studio to be connected up and offers complex routing for recording entire performances with a complete setup. The rear panel provides 6.35mm jack inputs for synthesizers and samplers, while the front panel allows the user to practically connect up to two vocal microphones or an electric guitar, and it also features a stereo input for an external signal source and two handy outputs for connecting a set of monitor speakers. The included software allows users to flexibly operate the control elements on a computer, and all of these features together ensure unrivalled connectivity and outstanding reliability during recording sessions, making it easy to record entire songs.

Hands-on input channels

Thanks to its jack/XLR combo sockets, users can connect microphones as well as instruments such as electric guitars and basses to the Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig. The black buttons to the left of the display allow the user to make their input and output metering selections, configure the inputs, and access the built-in mixer. Selected parameters can be adjusted with the large black encoder, which also functions as a control key, and in the adjacent monitoring section, the silver knob controls the volume of the monitors connected via the rear panel, which can be muted with the mute button. For individual control options, the button below can be assigned with mono, dim, and A/B speaker functions, the last of which can be used for switching between two connected monitors.

Plenty of analogue and digital ports

The rear panel of the Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig offers a whopping 16 line inputs in 6.3mm jack format for connecting all manner of instruments for electronic music, with the Pad function in the menu of the Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig allowing the input sensitivity to be lowered from +24dBu to +12dBu if the volume of the connected hardware should be too high. Next to the two monitor outputs, users will find eight additional outputs for flexible signal routing to external hardware, which also include voltage control, as these outputs are connected to the AC voltage. And those in need of even more channels can take advantage of the digital connection options, which offer up to 16 additional inputs and outputs each via ADAT, and for perfect synchronisation, Word Clock signals can be sent to and received from external hardware via the BNC connectors.

Effective and intuitive signal flow in the studio

The Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig is aimed at music producers and studio owners seeking an effective and space-saving solution that will allow them to implement complex setups. Thanks to the built-in mixer, all input signals can be mixed with low latency, thus ensuring high-quality recording results with up to 24-bit depth and a 192kHz sampling rate. Thanks to its detachable rack ears, this versatile audio interface can be permanently installed in 19" studio racks, occupying only one height unit and consequently leaving space for additional recording equipment. What is more, the front panel conveniently allows external storage media or hard drives to be connected in order for samples to be saved, as well as monitor controllers for the user's DAW.

About Arturia

Arturia's success story began with software emulations of well-known analogue synthesizers such as the Moog Minimoog, Sequential Prophet-5, and Oberheim SEM. The popular software instruments included in the V Collection are still flagship products of the French developer today. Over time, Arturia has gradually expanded its range and now also offers a host of hardware devices, ranging from synthesizers and keyboard controllers to sequencers. Since then, the former software developer has thus also become a household name in the world of analogue synthesizers and other equipment.

Effective re-amping made easy

The Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig's built-in re-amping function enables users to flexibly record electric guitars and post-edit the sound characteristics as desired by first recording the guitar's signal, then playing it back through a pedalboard and/or an amplifier, and recording it again. To this end, the guitar should be connected to the first jack/XLR combo socket on the front panel, while the second XLR combo socket re-records the output signal of the pedalboard or the amplifier, and output 3 or 4 on the front panel outputs the clean signal of the guitar. A successful re-amping session requires the signal level of the guitar and the output impedance to be adjusted correctly, and the Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig features a dedicated function to ensure that this is the case.

The way to go for everyone using external hardware.

This Arturia 16Rig is hands down one of the best investments I've ever made. Having used a wide array of interfaces over the past 15 years, this one really stands out. Setting it up is a breeze thanks to its intuitive design and clear labeling and unlike other interfaces, there was no need to use the console plugin or read the entire manual first, because the 16Rig's device screen provides all necessary info. It's also extremely user-friendly.

With 16 inputs and 10 outputs, it's ideal for effortlessly connecting multiple synths or effects to your computer. The front inputs and outputs are very well thought of, allowing you to quickly connect any effect/synth or even a phone to your computer.

I can't praise this unit enough, seriously. Thank you, Arturia!

k
Almost perfect for home studio with many devices
klaim 09.11.2024
Good:
- the routing system is super helpful in not having to add a mixer to my setup (that take space), which is what I had before and is completely replaced by this unit, in addition to act as a proper audio interface;
- that it is autonomous is super helpful for preparing live setup;
- far enough input for all my devices to be plugged in and no need to plug/unplug cables all the time;
- the number of output is helpful with mixing when checking with various speakers;

Bad:
- Only 2 input (front) handle XLR cables :/
- I would have preferred a second independent headphone output with different/separate ohm settings to easily switch between my different headphones
- it took me several weeks to understand how the routing worked, mainly because I didnt realize that each input and output are digital audio interfaces, so there is a setup to understand with Windows too;
- no SPDI/F is not ideal for one of my devices, but that's a minor issue;
- the main mix is supposed to be controlled by midi devices but there are MANY issues related to this, wich they said they will fix in future firmware updates but is not fixed yet, so if you intend to control the mix with a midi controller beware that it will probably not work exactly like you imagine.

Overall an excellent unit which would be perfect if it had better support for midi control and more varied kind of input.

J
Works Like an Arturia Dream
Jeffrey_M 14.01.2024
I own a couple of Arturia products and I have never been disappointed. The Arturia AudioFuse 16Rig is no different. It does what it says on the tin, whilst being fully supported with Arturia's amazing software capabilities.
Everything is streamlined and "Just works". The build quality of the unit feels solid and gives you trust that you purchased a professional item.
I was also surprised on how a quality interface differentiates in sound from budget interfaces. I was not expecting the sound quality to improve THAT much!

Für die Preisklasse Hervorragend
Out_M_iller 30.11.2023
