With the MiniLab 3, shown here in its alpine white incarnation, Arturia has taken the portable version of its KeyLab keyboard range to the next level by introducing a huge update with lots of new features to the MiniLab concept. The new transport function for controlling the DAW and the arpeggiator and chord mode in particular set the MiniLab3 apart from its predecessor, which now also features a small display and a clickable browser knob for even easier preset navigation through the included Analog Lab Intro software. In addition to the 25 keys and a touch-sensitive pitch bend and modulation wheel, the MiniLab 3 now comes with eight assignable encoders, four faders, and eight velocity-sensitive drum pads for controlling MIDI-compatible software such as Ableton, Analog Lab, and many others. The streamlined design and metal-reinforced construction in turn make the MiniLab3 the perfect controller when out and about.
As part of Arturia's KeyLab series, the MiniLab 3 provides a compact and portable version of the popular keyboard controller. Just like its bigger brothers, it features seamless DAW integration by default, such as for Ableton, and an impressive range of software synth presets. The infinitely variable encoders and the new faders are ideal for controlling various parameters, as they do not cause parameter jumps like standard encoders do. Users can now select the desired presets via the new browser knob, which shows information about the currently used parameters and presets via a display on the controller itself. Intuitive operation combined with a compact yet robust design invites anyone to let their creative juices flow, even when they are not in the studio.
The easy integration of the MiniLab 3 Alpine White in combination with the versatile software package makes this controller the perfect entry-level choice for use in productions and at live gigs. With two outstanding piano emulators made by UVI and Native Instruments, Arturia's proprietary Analog Lab Intro software suite, an Ableton Live Lite licence, and included subscriptions for Melodics and Loopcloud, this package includes everything users need to start creating professional productions. Those seeking to use the controller for other purposes can tailor the controller's functions to their individual needs using the Arturia MIDI Control Center, and thanks to the new MIDI interface, the MiniLab 3 can now also directly control hardware synthesizers.
Arturia's success story began with software emulations of well-known analogue synthesizers such as the Moog Minimoog, Sequential Prophet-5, and Oberheim SEM. The popular software instruments included in the V Collection are still flagship products of the French developer today. Over time, Arturia has gradually expanded its range and now also offers a host of hardware devices, ranging from synthesizers and keyboard controllers to sequencers. Since then, the former software developer has thus also become a household name in the world of analogue synthesizers and other equipment.
The Arturia MiniLab 3's robust and metal-reinforced construction not only provides a space-saving alternative for small studios, it also invites anyone to produce and perform their ideas when not in the studio. Whether it is used for live performances or for inspiring production sessions outdoors, the MiniLab 3 will always serve as the ideal companion. The 25 keys, pleasantly weighted for a keyboard controller of this size, are perfect for quickly and expressively realising musical ideas, no matter where. And thanks to the pedal input on the rear panel, users can also connect sustain pedals for an even more expressive playing style.
Analog Lab Intro
The included Analog Lab software suite offers a multitude of presets for a wide range of software synthesizers and emulators, with the sound selection ranging from modern software synths such as Pigments, through to classic analogue emulations like the Arp 2600, MS-20, and the MiniMoog as well as vocal and string synths from Asturia's Argumented Strings and Voices hybrid instruments. Every preset features a variety of customisable parameters, which can be quickly and easily controlled with the MiniLab 3. A budget-friendly update to the full version (Analog Lab Pro) provides access to an even wider preset range, while users can gain even more sound control options by acquiring each software synth separately and subsequently making use of their full range of functions in Analog Lab.
