Good simple budget controller
wires 07.12.2014
Behringer have made an extremely affordable little 1u unit that fills a lot of needs in the field.

Basically this is a 'lite' version of the normal ultradrive pro. Some of the older features it's bigger brother have been removed; RS232, card memory, which in all honesty aren't missed because they are pretty dated these days anyhow.

There's enough memory and features (limiters, EQ, Delay, Phase, etc.) built in to deal with most situations; mono 6 way, zoner, stereo 3 way, 2+subs, etc. and imo has one of the most user friendly interfaces on the market.

Everything is still on XLR as you would expect and it still has the same 6 outputs, which are fully route-able, but only 2 inputs on this version.

If you are looking for a simple controller on a budget, you can't go wrong here.
Only down points would be the lack of USB connection, wifi and computer software to control the hardware.

i use this in a basic set up with two passive full range tops and two passive subs and a analogue mixer and it makes the sound clear and is quick and simple to set up.

Behringer DCX2496LE - not as good as expected
Anthony2142 12.09.2016
Been using the Behringer CX3400 analogue mixer for years and decided to go digital. After reading lots of reviews, decided on the Behringer DCX2496LE due to cost/features, etc. Was very disappointed. Not as flexible as I thought and menus seemed difficult to navigate especially if you need to make adjustments 'on the fly' so to speak (though I must admit this will probably get better with continuous usage and familiarity). The real stickler was the sound quality. Admittedly there did seem to be more clarity / crispness in the midrange and high end of the DCX2496LE, but we found the bass/low end very lacking and almost /muddy' - this low end was far better on the analogue crossover. We like Behringer for the cost and features it has to offer, but lately, we do find the newer products seem to be compromising on the real factor - sound quality. We are still undecided as to whether we should try another machine (in case this was a one off / dud machine), a totally different make (e.g. DBX) or whether it is worth going digital at all.
