Nicely crafted tailpiece transformed viola sound

I fitted this tailpiece to a friends instrument. She was thinking of selling her second instrument because it didn't sound great so I had a quick look and it was immediately obvious she had the wrong size tailpiece, bridge position and ASL. I found this right size tailpiece (which is nicely crafted with some hollowing on the back and comes with easy to use tailgut adjusters), fitted it and re-set up the instrument and the sound was completely transformed - so much so my friend has decided to keep the instrument after all!
