An analogue solution from Dante

Audinate's Dante AVIO Analog Input IO Adapter 0x2 enables users to output analogue signal sources from a Dante network via two XLR outputs for stereo sound. This allows non-networked devices to be used in a Dante network – by now considered the industry standard, with fully scaleable audio and video transmission for professional AV connectivity. The adapter's impressively compact design makes it clear that it's been developed for use in mobile applications, for recording and playback of analogue signals. It provides a fully functional Dante interface combined with next-level user-friendliness, and also enables signal outputs to another network via the AES67 standard.

Dante AVIO Analog Output Adapter 0x2 interface

Premium-quality audio signal processing

The Dante AVIO Analog Input IO Adapter 0x2 delivers a bit-perfect audio stream playback, extremely low latency, and sample-accurate synchronisation across the entire network. It transmits two audio outputs in a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz with a mostly linear frequency response and a tolerance of +/- 0.5dB, allowing for a dynamic range of more than 100dB. Excellent signal quality is ensured by a low signal-to-noise ratio of more than 100dB, a low distortion factor of under 0.01% (+4dB), and a stellar 96kHz and 24‑bit conversion quality. An RJ45 connector inputs the adapter signal into the network. An LED for each input provides visual feedback on the signal status, and using the Dante Controller software, users can set the latency to one, two, or five milliseconds.

Playback going pro

Signal sources (including digitally converted signals), such as a stereo signal for a mixing desk or a PA system, can easily be output from a Dante network with the two male XLR connectors, rendering the adapter the perfect choice for use in conferences and presentations. Nevertheless, the adapter also works well with larger sound systems and, conveniently, reconfiguring the Dante network for these applications isn't necessary. The adapter runs on every operating system, allowing for flexible input of every audio signal into the Dante network. Once the adapter has been configured, users can enjoy easy and quick connection of analogue signal sources, as well as a high level of user-friendliness thanks to the absence of control elements on the adapter itself.

About Dante

Audinate was founded in 2003 by Aidan Williams. It introduced Dante, an innovative networking technology that finally solved the problems of delivering tightly synchronised audio with extremely low network latency. In doing so, Audinate transferred these advantages from IT technology to the professional AV industry. And in simplifying network setup, the manufacturer also created a new type of user interface that quickly proved intuitive and easy to use. Today, the Dante network is firmly established on the market and is used by companies worldwide for the professional transmission of audio and video signals. By the end of 2014, more than 170 manufacturers had partnered with Audinate. The most common areas of application are live events, broadcast transmissions, and conferences.

Robust and sturdy craftsmanship

The adapter’s robust housing not only offers reliable and safe use when the going gets rough, but also ensures a reliably long life of service. Thanks to its small dimensions, users will always find the right spot for it, whether on the road or when used in fixed installations. As the Dante network does not need to be preconfigured, the adapter is always ready to go, and a standard POE (Power over Ethernet) switch makes an external power supply unnecessary. Every Audinate adapter is compatible with the Dante Domain Manager (DDM), making IT handling especially easy into the bargain. Dante’s AVIO adapters have already won several awards, such as the NAMM Show 36th TEC Award 2021 and the ProSoundWeb Readers’ Choice Award 2019, once again confirming their reliability, flexibility, and professional approach.

We used this Dante AVIO's adapters to convert digital non-dante mixer (Soundcraft UI24R) into party DANTE-enabled device (practically "stagebox"; to be able to get master & monitor sound over long distances and on the other hand 4 channels get back to mixer = 2x INPUT, 2x OUTPUT).

This is absolutely starter for anyone who considering to apply DANTE into their workflow. We use it to leave our mixer as stagebox on stage and get important sounds from/to mixer to video mixer for live streaming purposes. :)

Expensive, but low build quality
HURACAN GTR 28.01.2022
The device is very expensive for its value and build quality.
Plastic construction,
Too stiff cables, with no easy option to change them when they die.
Very cheap XLR connectors.
No Ethercon lockable connector for the LAN cable, just ordinary RJ45.
I've expected much more quality from Audinate.

Very handy in a pinch
MuddyNick 07.12.2020
Very handy in a pinch however, the output does have an annoyingly loud white noise floor. For running a floor speaker or similar, however, it works just fine. Easy to configure and to use.

great piece of kit, simple to use

great bit of kit, simple to use and effective. Not the most solid construction, the body is plastic rather than metal, but I haven't had any issues with them.
