The dBTechnologies ES602 is a scalable, versatile, and portable line array system which comprises a 10" subwoofer and an external satellite speaker consisting of four vertically aligned 3" drivers. This “line array” design coupled with the onboard DSP allows the ES602 to truly shine. All the components are optimised to guarantee a rich and crystal-clear sound, as well as maximise coverage and dispersion. A height-adjustable mounting bar and speaker-twist output cable are also provided. Anyone hosting events, whether professionally or not, will greatly appreciate the combined advantages of a line array and a DSP system.
The core of the ES602 is the DIGIPRO G3, a state-of-the-art Class-D digital amplifier with a peak power of 800W. The whole system is controlled by the integrated DSP, which allows the user to select the preset best suited to the environment. The ES602’s generous 10" bass-reflex subwoofer also houses the amplifier module which powers the satellite speaker. Importantly, the satellite is designed according to the line array principle. Its four 3" Neodymium drivers, for midrange and treble, are vertically aligned and at slight angles from each other, which results in much more efficient sound dispersion. The directivity of 95x65°, i.e. the "sonic beams" is wide and optimised for good coverage, a feature normally found on high-end systems for large-scale events. dBTechnologies has thus made line array technology affordable and available to much smaller venues.
The acronym "ES" stands for "Entertainment-System", which accurately describes ES602’s intended purpose. dBTechnologies developed this product with a primary focus on portability and ease of use. It is ideal for for DJs, especially those who haul their own gear, speakers at conferences and events, solo musicians and small bands, and of course anyone else looking for a high-quality PA system to cover a medium-sized space. This is all made possible by the ES 800W power amp and dedicated DSP capabilities. "On the road" performers or event organisers will also appreciate the compact dimensions and light weight of the ES602. This all-in-one system takes up very little room and is easily set up and taken down.
In the mid-90s, dBTechnologies was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of A.E.B. Industriale s.r.l.. Since then, the company has established itself as one of the world's leading suppliers of professional sound systems. Today, dBTechnologies is present in more than 100 countries with its own sales offices or representing distributors. In the mid-2000s dBTechnologies switched to digital amplifier technology on its own initiative and as one of the first manufacturers in the industry, and can look back on more than 10 years of experience in the development of digital power amplifiers and their environments, including power supply and Digital Signal Processing. Their current catalogue includes active and passive loudspeakers, power amplifiers and electronics as well as wireless systems for a wide range of applications from musicians and DJs to event technology service providers and permanent installations.
A typical setting for the ES 602 would be, for example, right next to a keyboard for easy access and control. DJs and event hosts will also benefit from the compact and transport-friendly design, allowing them to perform at family or even medium-sized events. The ES 602 will also come in handy wherever large speaker arrays are not an option due to space constraints, such as in hotel reception areas or booths at trade shows and conventions, etc. Two ES 602s can easily be combined to create a stereo system with considerable power. The ES602 works fully standalone and can also easily become part of a larger setup when required.
A "line array" refers to a cluster speakers that are arranged in a horizontal or vertical line, subtly angled away from each other either horizontally or vertically, in order to provide the most consistent sound coverage over the intended area. In ideal terms, the system ensures that every point in space at the venue receives the exact same audio signal at the exact same time, and corrects any phase issues and/or problematic frequency responses in the process. The line array thus resolves outright all the problems typically encountered with traditional stereo systems. Line arrays operate on the principle of complex waveguides, measured in real time, that keep sound waves confined within specific areas.
