Replacement for PA110
Anonymous 13.03.2014
Bought this 3401A diaphragm to fix the tweeter in one of my "The Box PA110" speakers which had blown.

I was a little disappointed that the original had blown but I was perhaps pushing it a bit too hard and it was at least 5 years old so I don't have much to complain about.

The replacement looks to be good quality and identical to the original.
Nice "push button" locking for connecting the leads.

Details below are for fitting in a PA110. There may be differences with other models.

Fitting was easy but required a long cross-head screwdriver to get the case apart and an allen key ("hex key") to remove the back of the tweeter.

The tweeter cannot be removed from the front because the magnet is too large to fit through the hole, so the case needs splitting by removing 14 long cross-head screws from the back, 4 of which are deeply recessed (hence the need for a long screwdriver).

The internal speaker leads are quite short so take care when removing the back of the speaker.

To disconnect the leads from the tweeter terminal, just press the top of the terminal and the lead slides out (nice quality fitting). Make a note of which way round the leads go so that they can be reattached correctly.

Removing the diaphragm requires removing 4 short allen bolts (hex bolts), then the back of the tweeter lifts off.

The old diaphragm can then be lifted off and the new one put in place. Take great care to place the new diaphragm carefully so as to not damage the coil. It should drop in place very easily.

As they say "reassembly is the reverse of the dismantling procedure". Most of the screws in the P110 go directly into plastic, so start off gently and avoid over-tightening.

I have it running now and it sounds "good as new". A nice cheap repair.

As always, service from Thomann was immaculate with fast shipping, good parcel tracking and excellent pricing. I thought I might have left it a bit late to get parts for this weekend, but Thomann pulled through for me in less than a week (UK), - Thanks guys.

They say sing from the diaphragm....
Anonymous 24.06.2014
Well, I had a problem with one of the T-Box speakers and the sudden loss of high frequencies from my PA. To send the speaker back to Germany would seem to be a bit of a logistical problem, so, Thomann service dept took me at my word that the item had "Blown" and sent me a replacement for me to fit myself...did the job exactly so problem solved.
Instant high frequencies straight away. Now I still never found out why the original blew, perhaps it was just one of those isolated things, but the replacement worked a treat and thanks to the speed Thomann work at, I was up and running in no time at all.

It's great to be able to get spares and it's fantastic how quickly Thomann can get things to you...oh yes...singing....if you haven't a working diaphragm, don't expect to hit very many high notes!
