DiMarzio DP549

23

Ultra J-Style Pickup SetDiMarzio was the first company to produce replacement pickups for electric guitars and basses and has been able to maintain its position since the early 70s through a successful mixture of tradition and innovation.

Of course, DiMarzio also has pickups for today's widely used 5 string bass guitars in its catalogue. The requirements are, of course, special, as the additional low B string must be big-sounding without becoming muddy

If you’re keen for the Jazz bass sound but want it louder and with more treble the J Ultra will provide you exactly that: the sound is rich, funky and somewhat bigger, the sound stays precise also at the lowest frequencies!

Comes in a set with neck and bridge pickups.

Great pickups, but maybe not for Warwick basses
Astralus 13.05.2020
I replaced stock MEC pickups on Warwick Corvette Rockbass. I thought the replacement process will be easy, but it wasn't - the pickups are a little bigger than original MEC pickups and it was REALLY hard to put it there.
Regarding the sound - the difference between stock pickups and these DiMarzio is huge! It was worthy of all my efforts to put it in the bass.
Highly recommend these pickups but check twice if your bass is compatible with them!

Not right for my bass
Machete 26.05.2017
These are good value quality pickups. They have an incredible air, the top end clarity is outstanding and at the same time they have a great bottom. They're meant to be voiced with a modern scooped sound, great for slap, etc. The problem is that they didn't work well with my all-maple neck-through, a combination with no midrange to speak of.
In the end I swapped them with Dimarzio Area-Js, which are awesome pickups!

I suspect they would work much better with typical jazz basses that use warmer woods.
Also, make sure they will fit your existing pickup cavities.

Kein wirklich problemloser Umbau...
Ulrich796 15.12.2012
