I'm a classical guitarist, but have decided to recently start to learn the cello. Being used to frets, I bought this to try and help my finger placement for the initial learning stages.
It's very good - sticky but not tacky, and fitted by 4/4 size cello like a glove.
One point to note - to ensure the guides give you the correct intonation when your fingers are put on them, you have to ensure that the scale length (I.e from the nut to the bridge), is 685mm - any more or less and the notes you try to produce will sound a little flat or sharp.
If it's not this measurement, you will need to adjust the bridge, which is quite a daunting job for the beginner (even more for me with a hired instrument!!) - therefore if you need to do this, I would ask your teacher/ local dealer to help you Adjust your bridge.
Apart from that, installation is straight forward. It's much the same as putting a screen protector on your phone etc, just a bit bigger. Take your time, and make sure the fingerboard is completely free from dust and oil, and you'll have no issues!!
Overall, a great guide and it's helped me an awful lot get my intonation correct.
