Elektron is proud to introduce the Digitone, a polyphonic digital expander that is equipped with multiple FM algorithms and works with subtractive synthesis. It offers a variety of filters and effects so that new sounds can be created. In addition, it features a polyphonic sequencer that can be programmed extensively. Great importance was attached to user-friendliness during the Digitone's development, since FM synthesis is generally considered to be very complex to programme. The presets are already programmed and offer an excellent starting for experimentation. With this expander, every musician will have a handy device for FM sounds at their disposal that will prove its worth in both live performances and studio situations.
With its user-friendly interface, the Digitone provides a an easy starting point in the field of synthesis by means of frequency modulation. It features eight-voice polyphony and is equipped with four synth and four MIDI tracks. Each synth track is made up of four interconnected operators, which in turn can be selected as algorithms in eight different configurations in the menu. In addition, there are various filters, two LFOs, distortion and, as extra send effects, chorus, delay, and reverb which can be added with the internal signal routing option. The Digitone's step sequencer can be programmed extensively: Different parameters such as FM algorithms, presets, and filter settings can be set for each step, and the style of playing can also be adjusted with the microtiming function.
The Digitone will provide an extensive laboratory for those who want to experiment and get creative with their sounds. The 512 presets offer a multitude of starting points for programming. From drum kits to spherical pads, you can create your desired sound with ease, and hours of fascinating exploration are guaranteed. And as if that were not enough, you can purchase additional sound packs from the manufacturer's website.
The Swedish firm Elektron was founded in Gothenburg in 1998. The company develops tools for producers, artists, and DJs to perfect their respective crafts. The company's award-winning Overbridge software is designed to seamlessly integrate electronic musical instruments into computer-based DAWs as controllers and as external sound cards. Elektron is continuously bringing new innovations to the market in order to seamlessly integrate music into our day-to-day lives.
Thanks to its small size, the Digitone can be taken anywhere and is thus well suited to spontaneous jam sessions. The internal effects can be assigned to two external audio tracks using the two audio input jacks. Of course, the Digitone also has two audio output jacks. With the manufacturer's proprietary Overbridge software, the Digitone's hardware can be seamlessly integrated into DAWs such as Ableton Live, Cubase, and Studio One. The Digitone can thus be used as an external sound card as well as allowing presets and settings to be uploaded and saved directly to the DAW.
