From the inventor of guitar strings

Strings made by Ernie Ball - the proverbial icing on the cake for a powerful sound with plenty of sustain. Since the early 1960s, the US company has been making strings for almost every stringed instrument. This vast wealth of experience is clearly demonstrated in every product, and it is not by chance that Ernie Ball remains one of the market's leading manufacturers to this day. The product range has expanded immensely over the course of several decades and now includes many accessories such as effect pedals, cables, straps, and high-quality picks alongside the company's extensive selection of strings. However, Ernie Ball's core business is and remains the production of all manner of strings, which set standards in terms of sound, tuning stability, and durability - and the company is still based in Indio, California.

Bronze strings for a rich sound

The Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood Bronze string set is made with a winding composed of 80% copper and 20% zinc, which guarantees a crisp sound rich in overtones as well as plenty of volume and excellent durability. With gauges of .012, .016, .024w, .032, .044, and .054 (Medium Light), the Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood Bronze string set is suitable for fingerpicking as well as chord work, delivering precise intonation along the entire length of the fingerboard and lasting tuning stability from the moment you put the strings on.

Traditionally reliable

Thanks to its long playing life, loud and well-balanced sound, precise intonation, and high tuning stability, the Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood Bronze string set is particularly recommended as a reliable companion for ambitious acoustic guitarists who don't want to compromise when it comes to their choice of strings and who look to them for complete reliability both live and in the studio. The combined power of over 50 years of experience in string development at Ernie Ball also makes the 2003 Earthwood Bronze string set the first choice for acoustic guitars - and at a very fair price.

About Ernie Ball

The Ernie Ball company was named after its founder and has its headquarters in San Luis Opisbo, California. Being a guitarist himself, Ernie Ball knew their needs very well. A major problem for him in the 1950s and 1960s was the lack of high-quality guitar and bass strings. In 1962, Ernie Ball invented the “Slinky”, a very flexible and therefore much more comfortable string, which also sounded better and was more durable. He specifically brought individual string gauges onto the market for a young clientele and touring musicians. The company’s success was unstoppable, and today Ernie Ball is the world's largest manufacturer of guitar and bass strings. Over the years, the range has expanded and now includes accessories such as cables, picks, straps, etc. Ernie Ball is also known in connection with the instrument manufacturer Music Man, which the company bought in 1984, but which continues to operate as an independent brand.

Punchy chords and powerful solos

The Ernie Ball 2003 Earthwood Bronze medium-light string set provides an ideal blend of a balanced, powerful sound and easy playability. The strings' precise intonation means that chords and voicings will always sound bright and clear anywhere on the fingerboard. In addition, these Ernie Ball strings feature outstanding tuning stability as well as a direct response, all of which will be helpful in getting your timing as precise as possible. Those who instead go in for a warmer and more bell-like sound may prefer the Ernie Ball Earthwood Phosphor Bronze strings, which are available with identical gauges. A comparison between these two types of strings might be well worthwhile in order to exploit the guitar's full sonic potential and thoroughly explore your personal preferences in terms of playability.

m
surprisingly good strings

I've tried these strings with my D-28. I wasn't expecting to like them the way I did. Soon after I mounted them I found the overall tone to be too bright, way too bright and thin actually. But it didn't take too much time for them to change in tone and to get warmer and balanced.
They are not super long lasting, but they didn't lost their crispness too early either. I'm pleased by them, and I do suggest to try them.

A
Great sound, good lifespan too
Anonymous 28.04.2016
I bought these to put on a Yamaha APX500II after a few years of using Martin M140 strings. I found them to sound very full and clear, particularly through the pickups in the Yamaha. The level of tension they provide suits the way I play, which is usually pretty hard being a metal guitarist over all else.

To me, they feel familiar, having mainly played electric guitar, but with a pleasing full sound that you really don't quite get with a clean electric guitar!

The strings show no corrosion or damage out the hermetically seal packaging, and were easy to put onto the guitar. They lasted a little longer than many other strings I tried, particularly given that I play fairly infrequently, leaving the strings open to more corrosion from the environment than wear on contact with my hands!

Overall a worthwhile buy, I'd consider them one of my top acoustic strings to purchase.

Ik ben fan van deze snaren, makkelijk te bespelen door de dikte en een mooi sprankelend en helder, maar ook vol geluid.
