A classic that won't break the bank

If guitarists were forced to choose one guitar to play for the rest of their lives, surely it would have to be this one: The Fender Stratocaster, a true classic and the most popular electric guitar of all time. The Player Series Stratocaster shown here is made in Mexico and gives players the most affordable way to get their hands on a Strat with the Fender logo on the headstock. The guitar's features are anything but budget-level, of course, and it combines high-quality woods and hardware with updated tone circuits and a fresh and appealing look that includes a one-piece maple neck with a matt finish on the back and an alder body, shown here in a "Polar White" finish that will leave you thinking winter has come early.

Judiciously modernised

The Fender Player Series Stratocaster is the same in many ways as the original design that Leo Fender came up with in the early 1950s. The neck and fingerboard are made from a single piece of maple, and the neck features a modern "C" profile. The fingerboard adds an extra fret to the original model's 21, thus providing even more freedom for lead playing. As mentioned before, the body is made from alder and comes in a high-gloss "Polar White" finish. The classic Stratocaster pickup combination of three single coils is also present here, but these feature AlNiCo-5 magnets for a more modern twist on the bright, dynamic sound for which Stratocasters are known. Fender has modified the electronics compared to the original Stratocaster design by giving the bridge pickup its own tone control, while the second tone control is shared by the middle and neck pickups. This model also features a two-point tremolo system, which dramatically reduces friction and enhances tuning stability.

An all-rounder AND a specialist

The Fender Player Series Strat MN PWT is an extremely flexible guitar, but its pickup configuration of course means that it specialises in some areas more than others. Specifically, this guitar is most suited to clean sounds and moderate levels of distortion - this is where the pickups really come into their own with a punchy, open sound that retains plenty of character and fullness within the recommended gain limits. Players of Country, Western, Blues, and Classic Rock music can thus be sure of a great sound on stage and in the rehearsal room. The Fender Player Series of course also includes Strats with pickup combinations more suited to heavier musical styles.

About Fender

Fender is without doubt one of the most legendary guitar and amplifier manufacturers of all time. The company was founded in 1946 by its namesake Leo Fender († 1991), whose innovative ideas brought a breath of fresh air into the musical world. His Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass are not only classics – they also continue to shape the styles of musicians in countless genres to this day. Timeless Fender amplifier models such as the Bassman, Twin, Deluxe, and Princeton also enjoy a stellar reputation. Besides maintaining its classic product portfolio, however, the company is also constantly developing new products that make Fender a driving force in today’s music industry.

Just try to put it down again...

Since it was launched by Fender in 1954, the Stratocaster has established itself as the ultimate electric guitar and can thus be found in virtually every style of music. The Fender Player Series is aimed at the mid-price market segment, and the Mexican-made guitars combine quality that will satisfy demanding players with an affordable price that makes them interesting for beginners as well. And even at this price point, they proudly bear the "proper" Fender logo. These guitars also offer high resale values, perfect for players who want to upgrade or who perhaps decide that the guitar isn't the instrument for them after all (in which case their Fender definitely won't be to blame!).

K
Superb new series!
KindEdward 11.07.2018
First of all, I ordered this guitar because I was looking for a Fender Stratocaster but the American Professional Series was too expensive for my budget. I was quite lucky, because the moment I decided I wanted a real strat was the moment that the Player Series came out.

The good aspects:
- The sound is amazing. Great pick ups with a nice output.
- Satin finish on the neck makes it comfortable and easy to play.
- Flawless fret job.
- The colour is beautiful!
- Holds tune quite well even when abused by the two point tremolo system.
- Tone configuration for brigde pick up adds a new tone diversity to stratocasters that just was not there in the past.

The bad aspects:
- The Volume and Tone knobs feel a bit cheap in my personal opinion. Not such a tidy construction here.
- The tremolo block is a bit thin for my taste. I would expect a 555 euro guitar to have a solid and thick tremolo block, but sadly this is not the case.
- I would prefer if this guitar had a tortoise shell pickguard to better suit the white colour. But this is a matter of personal preference. I might purchase one eventually.

Nevertheless, the guitar plays great, sounds as you would expect from a Fender guitar and looks absolutely stunning. I am well satisfied with my purchase.

This might not happen in your country, but the delivery of this guitar took a staggering 7 days (week days) which is not a good service at all. The guitar arrived Friday on the 6th of July in the nearest UPS station in my country. But it was only delivered at my house the following tuesday on the 10th. The reason? Thomann misplaced my address and I had to call UPS, thus spending more of my personal income, since they charge you for phone calls, to solve this matter. Not pleased with my service. Thankfully, the guitar arrived in good condition, otherwise I would definitely issue a refund.
But this was the first time that it happened, so I'm positive it will not happen to anyone else.

Spectacular sound and value for money!
zoki665 11.01.2022
Having limited myself to heavier styles of music greatly featuring high gain humbuckers and gain through the roof, I've skirted around buying a Strat for some time. In the last few years however, I've broadened my musical horizons into more of a Bluesy territory, bought this guitar, and let me tell you... It sounds incredible!

Out of the box it tunes beautifully, the intonation is solid, and the stock hardware sounds great even plugged straight into my Blackstar/Orange amps without any effects processing. Comparing it to its USA counterparts I can honestly say that for this price there's no better instrument.

If you're on the fence about pulling the trigger, don't be. You'd be hard pressed finding a guitar that sounds this good at such a price!

O
Great guitar but broken
Oyvi 10.01.2022
This was my first Stratocaster and the first experience was a bit poor as the guitar made a ton of noise and even worse when played on. I have built some guitars from scratch previously and after some troubleshooting I found out that the jack on the guitar was faulty. I first tried resoldingering it but that didnt help much, ended up swapping it with a switchcraft jack and now its smooth as butter.

I could have contacted Thomann for a replacement but I live so far away that I decided to just fix it myself, I am planning on upgrading the pickups and tuners later anyway.

I love the color on this guitar, looks really great and its a shame you can't find a Player Plus in pure white.

The neck and playability are top notch on this guitar.
