This is specifically for Fender American basses that use threaded nuts but I'm told it works equally well with Hipshot Ultralites. It works as advertised to increase the break angle between nut and tuner. It seems sturdy enough not to break or bend under pressure.
With the old style tapered (not fluted-shaft) tuners the improvement was marginal at best, carefully winding the string around the post will fix most (if not all) problems without needing this piece of gadget.
But the fluted-shaft tuners seem to have an inherent problem, in which the string sits higher than desired no matter what. Stealth retainer really helps with these tuners, which brings the question: Should Fender charge separately for something that fixes their design problem?
In summary, this is a quality product which does what it's supposed to do but it should be available at a lot less price.

Double check before purchase
Tamas the Tamas 05.03.2023
I bought two of these retainers for a Squire CV70 guitar because the A string alway buzzed (typical for Fender Precision basses as the string has almost no slope between the head and the neck). Unfortunately I did not read carefully that these retainers are made for guitars with screwed machines and the CV70 has simply glued machines. AS the string tension is huge, the string simply lifted them up as well as the machines. So had to put them aside.
Later I replaced the CV70 with a Fender AM Performer and I could use the string retainers (as the are designed for such guitars, obviously). It was very easy to install them and the only disappointment (that is I marked 4 stars only) is because the material is weaker than I thought and the retainer hooks are a bit sloped by the strings. The whole thing works but looks a bit strange due to the weak material.
Finally they pull the E and A strings downward enough to have a positive effect but I am unsure if they worth the price, to be honest.

A nice stealthy Fender drop-in solution
Jernej V. 06.02.2021
I ordered this product for my Fender USA Standard 2005 Bass.
It was a direct replacement for the washer on the tuner. The product works well enough, it corrects the string angle making it closer to other strings. The angle could be a bit steeper but the functionality is not compromised.
CON: The angle could be a bit steeper.
PRO: It works nontheless.

Bass string retainer
Tony 1 07.08.2022
Unfortunately the retainer do not fit my Squier bass which does not have the nut to fix it to the pole. I keep it for the time in the future when I will onw a bass suitable for my string retainer, as for now it is a nice sourvenir.
