Ukulele and adventure?

Flight TUC-32 Sakura Concert Travel ukulele

A ukulele made from the same material as a motorcycle helmet? That can't be real, surely? It certainly can: Introducing the Flight TUC-32 Sakura Concert Travel ukulele, which is made for the most part from ABS polymer and gives players an extremely robust instrument that they can take on even the wildest adventures without ever having to worry about it getting damaged. The use of this material for the back, sides, neck, and fingerboard provide outstanding resistance both to physical knocks and to fluctuations in temperature, meaning that this ukulele (whose only wooden component is its strikingly designed basswood top) will stand up to the longest of journeys.

More than simply robust

The extremely compact design of the Flight TUC-32 Sakura Concert Travel ukulele means that it will fit into virtually any travelling bag, and even if space is tight, the user can simply strap it (in the included gig bag, of course) to the outside of their luggage, and they are ready to go. Concert ukuleles are tuned to G-C-E-A, otherwise known as "C6 tuning", which is the traditional Hawaiian tuning method. Besides its enhanced robustness and stability, the instrument's ABS construction also has tonal advantages, namely a more powerful midrange response and a louder overall sound - so beachgoers on holiday will still be able to hear themselves easily over the sound of the waves!

Sakura: "Cherry blossom"

The Flight TUC-32 Sakura Concert Travel ukulele is designed for musicians who are looking for an accompanying instrument for on the go that combines durability with great looks. "Sakura" is the Japanese word for "cherry blossom", and in keeping with its name this ukulele's black-into-blue top is adorned with an immediately eye-catching cherry blossom design that is also continued on the headstock and gives the instrument an extremely elegant appearance. However, the Sakura ukulele's construction also incorporates some sophisticated elements, including a zero fret and ABS bridge for near-perfect intonation and string action, and this combination further enhances the instrument's playability and durability at the same time.

About Flight

The Slovenian-based company Flight was founded in the early 2000s with one simple aim: To fulfil the demand for high-quality ukuleles in its home country. The team got to work right away and began importing ukuleles based on its own designs, with the mission statement that its instruments should be "attractive, affordable, and high-quality". Since 2010, Flight has been expanding its international presence and now caters to a broad target audience of musicians while also constantly working on new and innovative designs. The company's catalogue thus includes a colourful mix of electric and travel ukuleles, alongside its high-end Royal Series instruments and a range of accessories that includes everything ukulele players need. Today, Flight continues to operate according to this philosophy: "Our mission is to spread joy through the power of the ukulele".

A loyal companion

ABS is a commonly used synthetic material in a wide range of industries, including automobile manufacture and children's toys, and in both cases the material of the final product is subjected to some very high demands. The Flight TUC-32 Sakura Concert Travel ukulele takes full advantage of this material's properties and will thus prove to be a robust and durable companion in any situation. With its 17-fret fingerboard, 36.6mm nut width, and high-quality Aquila Sugar strings (with which it comes straight from the factory), the Sakura ukulele is also immensely playable and will capably handle every playing situation - from trips to the beach through to hiking tours in the mountains.

My girlfriend wanted this uke because of the look, and it is concert size while she already owns KALA soprano. Sakura looks great, but it could be improved with smoother frets, and bone nut and saddle. I love wooden instruments but this hard plastic is kinda interesting. The sound overall is on the bright side, and uke is setup is manageable. Only big downside are strings, those are squeeky as hell.

Fazit: Ein schönes Instrument, welches Freude macht. Im Moment wird zwar nur wild in die Saiten gehauen, aber vielleicht hören wir ja irgendwann, das erste kleine Lied. Und wenn nicht, dann nicht😋

for decoration

I should have read more carefully so it was not clear to me but this is a 100% plastic uke and I was kind of disappointed. The looks are amazing, so it is a good decoration in my guitar room but otherwise I don't like the sound or handling of it. Takes ages to tune and re-tune, for me this is a toy and nothing else. But a nice one :)
