A great update on my favorite Solo 6 monitors.
Mountaineеr 09.11.2022
I used Solo 6 Be monitors for a long time. I was very happy with them.
Not so long ago I moved to another country and when the question arose about buying monitors I did not even think twice and took the new Solo 6.

I was very surprised how Focal improved their product:
less resonance at low frequencies, new beryllium tweeter sounded less harsh, mid frequencies became much clearer too, finally they added mesh in tweeter (I had some experience with damaged tweeter in previous generation).

On the negative side:
I don't like auto-standby mode, very slow response, and sometimes, when something is playing at low volume, I even have to turn volume knob to turn monitors back on.
Focus mode - I don't really understand what it's for, it's not a good substitute for real s**t control, and in order to turn it on you need to buy a pedal as well...

All in all, I am very happy with this purchase.
If you don't like newfangled "DSP monitors" and you need real analog sound - I recommend these monitors for your consideration.

Great professional studio monitors Great professional studio monitors
aintitfun 12.08.2022
These are truly great monitors. They need a little burn-in period, first the tweeter highs are a little too hard on the ear. After 2-3 hours of playing music it is already much better, Focal recommends 40 hours of burn-in period before any critical listening.
I replaced my older Focal Shape 65 monitors which were already very nice loudspeakers. There are more detail and a more 'pro' feeling in the Solo6 monitors. I can highly recommend it as an upgrade.

A
- Gut brauchbarer "Focus"-Mode.

The task was to find the best near-field monitors (listening distance 1m) from Thomann's range for a budget of €3,000. After two bad purchases from other dealers, I made my way to Brückendorf to first hear and then buy. Thanks to the very good advice and the opportunity to hear all my candidates, I ultimately chose the Focal Solo6. Here are my (subjective) reasons why the Solo6 are the best choice under these conditions (€3,000, 1m distance): - The best tweeter in this class, almost as "silky" as a fabric dome and yet as precise as metal domes can be . - The beryllium tweeter is well protected by a grille. - No additional DSP and converters in the signal path, which can have a negative impact on the detail resolution. - Very good stereo imaging. A measurement shows that the two tweeters have exactly the same frequency response. So Focal has the manufacturing quality well under control. - Very usable “Focus” mode. You save yourself a second pair of comparison speakers (full range speakers). - Free from major weaknesses. What bothers me the most are the artifacts from the bass reflex channel, but in my opinion all speakers with such a channel have that. (99% of all speakers here fall into this category.) Conclusion: An excellent monitor that, despite all its precision, still sounds pleasant without being "nice" on the other hand. Another important thing: you need high-quality speaker stands, the tweeters have to be at ear height and a set of IsoAcoustics ISO pucks is mandatory.

Los matices a la vista! The nuances in sight!
Focalsolo6 03.07.2024
Perfect playback, even at low volume. Very good appearance and finishes. As a curious note (not necessarily negative), they get quite hot at the back.
