Great Sound, But a Few Quirks
MisterDj 11.10.2024
The Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen is a solid choice for those looking for a budget-friendly audio interface with good sound quality. The preamps are clean, and it delivers a rich, clear sound that’s perfect for home recording, podcasting, or streaming. For its price, it offers excellent audio performance, making it a great entry-level interface.

However, there are a few downsides that should be considered. One of the more frustrating issues is that it occasionally disconnects from MIDI devices without warning, which can be a hassle during recording sessions. This random disconnect means having to reconnect and sometimes restart the software, which can disrupt the creative flow.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that the Scarlett Solo doesn’t come with XLR outputs. For users looking for more versatile connectivity, this could be a limitation. However, given the price point, it’s understandable, and the interface still provides great value for what it offers.

Overall, the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen is a reliable, high-quality interface with some minor flaws. If you can overlook the occasional MIDI disconnect and the lack of XLR outs, it’s a great option for anyone starting out or looking for a simple yet effective audio interface.

Very good beginner gear
Bart Vaes 11.11.2021
Excellent beginner gear, with 1 TRS and 1 Jack input and 2 balanced outputs. Very sturdy, high quality built.
The "Air" button is nice to brighten up your music.

Minor points are: it has a direct monitor output, but the no separate volume control for it.
Since gen.3 the device is listed as Mass Storage Device after connecting. You need the proprietary Focusrite software to switch it to audio device. This wasn't the case with gen. 2 devices.

‏In principle, some do not want a cable with noise or confusion, and I am among you, I may pay what can be paid to get the quality in the sound (it is not as if I regret paying thousands in the guitar) but the clear sound and the multiplicity of choices and the right price all I found in this audio interface, do not think a lot, buy it and thank me later

All in all very good
SpaceGray 17.12.2022
To be honest, I don't really have that much to say about the interface. It looks, feels and sounds pretty high-quality, performs well and if you're only looking to record vocals and one instrument at a time chances are you're going to enjoy this interface as much as I did for the longest time.

Two things I'd like to add, however, are that FIRSTLY, if you own headphones with an impendance >100 ohm, I would urge you to maybe look for other interfaces with an integrated amplifier, as the solo doesn't come with a potent enough headphone amp (at least not for my 250 ohm dt770 pros) and, SECONDLY, a problem I DID have with the interface after about a year of using it, is a certain crackle in my monitors when i turn the volume knob, coming from a buildup of dirt behind the volume knob itself. I've reported this to Focusrite and until now they've been very happy to help, I might even get a replacement free of charge because I still am eligible for one due to their warranty. I still felt like including this.

Overall though, pretty decent interface. Would recommend to anybody looking to buy their first or (as in my case) second audio interface. Does it's job very well with no limitations and compromises in audio quality.

A
Outstanding quality for a very affordable price.
AKooymans 18.03.2020
I got this interface as an addition to my home studio; I mainly use it to track bass and guitars. All I can really say is that I have no complaints whatsoever!

The design is very nice, the device itself feels very sturdy. The free software perks that are included are very nice as well. Focusrite provides several detailed instructional videos, so installation is also a walk in the park.

PROS:
- Beautiful and sturdy design;
- Easy to install, thanks to Focusrite's instructions;

CONS:
- I guess that a con for some people can be that you can only hook up one instrument and one microphone at the same time. For me this is no problem, since I'm only tracking one instrument at a time.

Affordable high-quality!
Fernando'89 03.07.2023
I have tried other audio interfaces in the same range as this, but none of them is as reliable as the Scarlett Solo 3rd gen. The hardware is good, light-weight but good, the audio quality is excellent, and it is very user friendly. On top of this, it comes with Ableton DAW, plugins and what not..
So far I cannot find a downside to this interface. So I definitely recommend it!

Good starter option
YSRL 19.08.2024
Works well with my current setup as an indie musician. Would recommend it for new starters. Helps that it is plug and play with the pretty straightforward interface. Works well with Logic Pro (and I imagine also the other major DAWs out there), as well as mics like the Rode NT1-A Complete Vocal Recording.

I use the Rode NT1-a microphone, the gain handle does not start to burn
hohox 04.02.2022
I use the Rode NT1-a microphone, the gain handle does not start to burn until you turn it half, it gets very dirty with kotskami, everything sounds good, there are some problems with the drivers, namely "click". Overall not bad

does what it promishes
lost beginner 19.12.2021
it a good audio interface for the very beginner, or people that know they will never need more than the very basic features this comes with, but for the life of me I cannot understand why there is only 1 rotary knob for both headphones in the front and the speaker outs in the back and no way of shutting one out off unless counting directly disconnecting and reconnecting the cables every time,
but for the price it sounds good and the features it comes with works
