I was eyeing this product for months, then once it was in stock, I jumped on it. Finally a stand designed for folk instruments in which my F-5s will sit without wiggling around or stupidly falling out of.
Sadly, this is not the case. As the stand is not adjustable, the place where the neck should rest is too low for the neck of the mando to sit in - it is stopped from doing so by the scroll of the F-5 bumping up against the stand. Bummer!
Honestly, this is just a fancy stand for a ukulele. I imagine it's good for that. If I had an A style mando I would try it in there too. It's too small for a banjo (which actually sit just fine in a regular guitar stand), as for a violin, there is nowhere to place the bow. So what folk instrument is it really for?
Still, despite it's complete lack of ability to be adjusted, it is very stable and compact. All in all a well made stand, if indeed tremendously one-dimensional in it's conception.
It's going back to Thomann!
