T
It would be the perfect bass, BUT...
Tenrai 20.06.2024
The instrument looks cool, sounds great, very comfortable, quality fittings, widest range of sound options. I could call this bass a perfect instrument, if not for the nightmarish, completely incompatible with the word "premium" workmanship.
The first guitar arrived with ringing frets. Just bad fretwork, the height of neighboring frets varies greatly. Well, sent it back. The second guitar arrived with a huge cavity (2-3 centimeters long and three millimeters deep) on the back side of the neck (where the palm rests). Also sent it back. The third guitar arrived with a noticeable knot on the wood, but it was on the back side of the deck and I didn't try my luck, so I kept it. But it was not the end of the story.
After some time (quite a long time, the return deadline has already passed) I noticed that the scale is not set up correctly. I tried to adjust it, and - surprise! - there is not enough adjustment range of the saddles to adjust the proper scale! The saddles are too far away from the fingerboard, and with the tuning screws fully turned out, the guitar understates the note at the 12th fret! I tried this on factory strings, bought another pack of Ernie Ball strings of the same caliber - all the same thing. I had to buy a mixed set with thicker 3, 4 and 5 strings (45-135), and with this set it got a little better (at the 12th fret there is now 4-6 cents down with the tuning screws turned all the way out).
The result is a completely useless instrument for professional work, you will have to go to the master and spend more money (if it can be fixed at all), on which it is impossible to put thinner strings and impossible to put even factory caliber strings.
Toman support said that this quality is normal and there is no need to do anything about it. Well, that's a good lesson at a cost of almost 1,4K euros.
Ibanez, you owe me money for the three sets of strings I had to buy for experimentation and, much more importantly, the lost good mood and pleasure of the purchase.
