Very Satisfied with the TMB30

I got this for my daughter (7yo) who wants to start playing the bass.

Bear in mind I am not a bass player. I was very surprised by the quality of the instrument in comparison with its cost. I have managed to dial in a nice and mellow sound as well a punch one for slaps. So it seems very versatile, which is what I was looking for as this is going to be the only bass we will have for a while.

I have only two problems with this guitar: sharp edges on pickups and knobs positioning.

The edge of the pickups is quite sharp and if you put your hand on top of them it's not very pleasant, they definitely could have added some rounding. That said I added that with a file, not pretty if you look closely but much more comfortable.

The upper knob is located very close to the strings so if I play really hard I usually end up turning it with my pinky or something. So for some reason it resets to 70-80% position for me and I have to adjust it all the time.

Perfect for beginner 28.10.2024
This cheap Bass Guitar is great!
I personally got an excellent example from Thomann! I have no faults with it, other than the tone pots not having a large range of sound difference. The P and the J PU's definitely are noticeably different and blend very well in my opinion. It is simply that's between the low and high there seems to be maybe 4 tonal differences in the sound that they provide. This is not a problem for me as I'm just a beginner but I'm sure to a trained ear it would seem the tone doesn't change massively from low to high on either pot they are a bit more like volume boosters.
