Recommended with Tannoy 5 Gold monitors and Babyface Pro
roccapl 28.11.2020
I had the problem that the output of my RME Babyface Pro (the old model) has a fixed output that drives the Tannoy Gold 5 monitors too hot.
The result of this is that the main output of the sound card had to stay at -40dB, lowering the resolution of the audio and pumping the self noise. In the rme forums ("Level mismatch solutions - fixed and variable attenuators"), they suggested this product and I admit that they work perfectly to attenuate the sound card output so that I can turn my main output back to 0dB.

The cheapest and gets the job done
Alex Djuran 31.03.2021
I bought a few of these for some loud sources I'm dealing with in my studio such as my subkick, LDC overheads, SDC's on close mic'd drums etc. The sources are very hot, so I needed some pads to not clip my mics in digital and this little thing caught my eye.
It's way cheaper than most of the competition and it's pretty versitile in offering you 3 steps of padding. Overall, great product!

Great sound, ok build
Ellery Daines Music Production 19.05.2024
Audio-quality-wise my pair of these both work great (at the time of purchase, anyway). I'm using them to bring down really hot line-level signals before they hit my converters, and there's no unwanted artefacts or nasty business.
The build quality is where you save the money compared to Shure etc. I've used the Shure inline pad a lot and it's definitely more rugged than this one. The casing here is plastic, not metal, and feels like it might not survive a misplaced kick or mic being dropped on it etc. Fine for situations like mine where it stays wired up in the same place all the time, out of trouble. Maybe not so fine for getting thrown around at a live venue etc.

nothing less nothing more

it just does what you expect it to do. i am using two of these sticks between my audio interface and monitors. it adds no coloration whatsoever to the signal. i wonder what more does the more expensive alternatives deliver, probably nothing more than a better looking brand sticker on the product!
