The Mackie CR4.5 BT Gen 3 is a compact active monitor system designed to bridge everyday listening duties – from home entertainment and gaming to serious desktop music production and mixing – while offering greater headroom and low-frequency reach than the smaller CR3.5. Part of Mackie's popular third-generation CR (Creative Reference) series, the system pairs a powered speaker with a passive partner to deliver a balanced, monitoring-grade stereo setup straight out of the box. The Class A/B amplifier delivers the same 50W of total output as the CR3.5 model, but the CR4.5 benefits from its larger drivers to produce a fuller, more confident low end in nearfield setups and small to medium-sized rooms. With its compact footprint, multiple analogue inputs, and front-panel controls, it integrates easily into home studios, content-creation setups, and personal listening spaces where flexibility and clarity are equally important. Bluetooth audio enables wireless playback from phones, tablets, or laptops.

Shape the sound

The Mackie CR4.5 BT uses rigid MDF cabinets with rear-firing bass reflex ports to extend low-frequency response while keeping resonance under control in close-range setups. Each speaker combines a 4.5" woven-fibre woofer with a 1" silk-dome tweeter, crossed over at 3kHz for a smooth handover between lows, mids, and highs. Compared to the CR3.5, the larger woofer delivers greater low-end presence and headroom, making kick drums, bass lines, and cinematic effects feel more substantial without sacrificing clarity. The overall voicing remains balanced and controlled: mids stay clear and articulate for vocals and dialogue, while the top end remains detailed without becoming fatiguing. Stereo imaging is precise at nearfield distances, supporting confident decisions when mixing or editing at a desk.

About Mackie

In 1988 Greg Mackie, already a successful co-founder of a pro audio company, founded Mackie Designs Inc. with the goal of producing affordable, high-quality mixers. The company's first official product, the LM-1602 line mixer, was initially produced within the four walls of his home. As sales figures were encouraging, its successor model CR-1604 soon followed - and in 1991 the company finally moved into its first proper production facility. The combination of reliable quality and low prices quickly brought the company enormous success, so that by 1995 Mackie had already sold 100,000 products. In 2003, the company was renamed LOUD Audio, LLC so that there is no longer any confusion between the Mackie brand and its former parent company of the same name.

Positioned between the CR3.5 and CR5 models, the Mackie CR4.5 BT offers a useful step up for users who need more low-end presence and output without moving into larger, more imposing monitors. It remains optimised for nearfield use, but its increased headroom makes it more comfortable in slightly larger rooms or at higher listening levels. For setups that call for deeper sub-bass extension, the CR4.5 BT can also be paired with a CR8S BT subwoofer, forming a compact 2.1 system that scales easily from focused desktop work to more immersive listening, gaming, or multimedia use.

A defining feature of Mackie's CR Gen 3 monitors is a simple but effective voicing system that adapts the speakers to different uses and placements without relying on software EQ. The rear-panel Location switch compensates for desktop or bookshelf placement by adjusting the low-frequency response, helping reduce boundary reflections that can blur bass and low-mid detail. On the front panel, the Tone control shapes the overall character of the sound: Turned fully left, the response remains flatter and more neutral for tracking, mixing, or critical listening; as it's turned clockwise, low-end weight and high-frequency sparkle are gradually introduced for gaming, casual listening, or multimedia use. Günstiger Studiolautsprecher mit sehr gutem Klang und einwandfreier Verarbeitung

Das Problem bei Lautsprechern ist immer das Selbe. Je kleiner die "Brüllwürfel" werden, umso flacher und dünner ist die Wiedergabequalität. Ich hatte mich im Internet über die Mackie CR4.5 BT ausführlich informiert und mit anderen Herstellern verglichen. Nun stehen die "kleinen Studiomonitore" auf meinem Studiotisch und der Klang ist einfach nur super. Durch den eingebauten Verstärker sind sie kräftig und gut mit Höhen und Bässen ausgestattet.
Die Verarbeitung ist einwandfrei und alles ist an seinem Platz. Deshalb alle Sterne, die es gibt. Ich finde, es war eine sehr gute Entscheidung.

Avant tout bravo à l'équipe Thoman, livraison impeccable.
Cependant je ferai parvenir des photos sur la qualité de l'emballage aurait pu être fatal, ouf aucun dégâts a constaté, mais je vais signaler ce problème.

Pour l'aspect, rien a redire, perso j'aime la taille.
Au niveau du son je suis bien surpris des 50w, il le semble qu'elles ne sont pas toutes arrivées.
Je m'attendais à plus de puissance et de relief. C'est peut-être dû aux dimensions réduites.
Bon pour le prix il faut reconnaître que ça fait la blague pour un musicien de salon.
En revanche pour le bleutooth qui se déconnecte après l'arrêt des enceintes.
Ça peut-être un motif sérieux de retour.

Au niveau du mode d'emploi très Light, on s'en sort.

Je suis encore dans une phase de réflexion, mon premier sentiment, c'est pas, et a cause du bleutooth, la je serai plus critique..
