The sandblasted surface combined with a relatively low weight and different sized holes give the cymbal a remarkably soft feel with a unique trash sound

I'm a big fan of the Meinl trash crashes, finding them to be really musical and also surprisingly versatile. They're fast and don't need much force to produce a satisfying explosive sound that's quick in and quick out.
The trash splash - new for this year - carries on the same idea - very fast to open up and die away - only obviously it's higher pitched. It reminds me of the way a cat sneezes! That said, it does have a low undertone - and it all adds up to a satisfyingly complex sound. At really low volumes you can almost 'ride' it.
A great addition to the Meinl range. It also blends in very nicely with my Benny Greb sand cymbals.

Einzigartiges Splash der besonderen Art
SOULFOOD 29.08.2017

Trashy and glassy splash cymbal
jc fernandes 12.06.2017
It?s a thin cymbal and the perforations add to its lightness, eliciting a very fast response and a very short decay. The sound is trashy and glassy (the glassy part I didn?t like, but that?s a question of personal taste). Since the cymbal mass is small the sound volume is also small but no one buys a 10?? splash to stop the show. Anyway, the barking of this splash is so short and focused that it has an acceptable cutting power. It works well in stacks.
