Meinl MDST10BK 10" Snare Timbales

I have been using this drum for a little over a month and so far I am incredibly pleased with it. What impressed me the most about this product was how good it sounds as both a snare and a timbale. I tuned mine to create a nice, bright sound and then with a flick of the lever I can switch to a crisp yet musical timbale sound.

The stock head that comes with the drum has held its tuning in the past month and still sounds as good as it did when i first tuned it. The mount is also incredibly secure and it hasn't moved at all since I set up on the kit. Rather than using the standard tuning rods that most drums use, the head is tuned with nuts. A Meinl tuning spanner is included with the drum however, so tuning it isn't a problem.

As with all of Meinl's products this drum is very well made but the key issue I have with it is the lever to turn the snares on and off. It can be stiff and awkward to use and it certainly isn't as smooth as the levers you would find on a regular snare drum.

With that said I have no other issues with this drum an I am really glad I bought it! This is a fun addition to any kit and gives you many different sound choices that span a wide range of musical genres.

Diese Snare Timbale ist ein ordentliches Instrument - trotz des für eine Timbale recht geringen Durchmessers. Der "halbierte" Snareteppich drückt über eine einfache Hebelmechanik von unten an das Schlagfell. An meinem Modell lief der Hebel recht schwerfällig, was sich aber mit ein bisschen Fett ohne weiteres dauerhaft beheben ließ.
Wem der Sound des Originalfells zu scharf ist, sollte ein Remo 10" Skyntone Coated probieren. Ich habe damit sehr gute Erfahrungen gemacht.
