EXCELLENT CABLE DRUM

This drum makes a stage cable so usable. It is solidly built and is all metal, so you need to check the weight, and add the weight of the cable. This thing is big - check the dimensions. It comes with a pre punched connector plate and a blank which means you can customise it to your needs. There is also a lot of soldering to do, so you need to be confident with a soldering iron. Having got it all connected it is a breeze to just extend the amount of cable you need between desk and stage and leave the rest on the reel. Because the cable is rolled onto the drum, it comes off with no kinks and lays flat on the floor - great. Be aware that the pre-punched plate is to D Norm standard - you can check the sizes on Neutrik web site - shame Thomann don't give this info in the description.

Putting the multicore cable onto the drum was very easy and not technically challenging. and the construction of the drum is solid.

my only very very minor issue is that the wheels do come slightly loose from time to time after moving over a rough surface but is quite easy to tighten up again

I was bored always to wrap our sssnake MC 24/8 multicore cable, so I ordered this cable drum. The construction made of steel pipes looks very stable and is, after some years of moving around, still in god condition.
The four wheels are OK but 100mm blue wheels are better, especially on rough surfaces.
The provided connection plate is punched and drilled for 32 D type XLR which will fit perfect.
After one day with a hot soldering iron and checking with a cable tester we had a now good working solution for our livegigs.

The drum holds 30m of a 24/8 multicore and rolling it up is very fast and easy now.
The break holds the drum safe in place.
I wold buy it again.

I recently reviewed multicore (24/8) in which I mentioned this cable drum. It works brilliantly! Sadly the plastic knob on the back has broken slightly due to something sliding into it in the van. But other than that, this has been perfect :D
