I took a gamble on these (bought 2). I already have a Pearl tom holding clamp which is, as you'd imagine, very good, and sets the bar high.
Now, I'm suspending MPS600 11" pads rather than expensive acoustic shells, but those pads are heavy! I wouldn't want one on my foot thank you.
These clamps are significantly cheaper than the big names and look just as slick. They've a high gloss chrome finish and a the ball-mount gives infinite adjustment.
Where they lose out to the big brands would be in the detail like how the clamp attached to your pole: there isn't a fancy spring-loaded locking bolt arrangement, no it's all pretty plain and workman-like. But the chrome finish makes them look far more expensive than they are. If you tour then the benefits of exotic clamping systems will be valuable. If your kit stays put, then once it's on it's on.
But they grip. And stay gripped (so far). I've two of these clamps on the same pole, and their slimness allows them to be mounted close to each other so there isn't a huge vertical difference in the heights.
Very recommend esp if you aren't going to be breaking down your kit every night.
