Unbox and get started!

The Millenium Focus 18 Drum Set Black gives ambitious young drum talents everything they need to start playing their first beats "out of the box", so they can start drumming immediately after the kit has been unpacked, set up, and tuned. In addition to the five-piece shell set, two cymbals (14" hi-hat and 16" crash/ride), all of the necessary stands including a hi-hat stand, a bass drum foot pedal, and a drum stool are included in the scope of delivery. Almost sensational in this price range is the stable, double-braced hardware and an extremely useful accessory set with a damping pillow for the bass drum, four sound rings for the snare drum and tom-toms, and a first pair of drumsticks.

Low budget, high performance

The features and accessories of the Millenium Focus 18 Drum Set Black are impressive! The hi-hat and bass drum pedals feature a durable chain drive, and the bass drum beater comes with a felt and plastic beater surface. The tom suspension does not have holes in the shells, which not only looks more elegant, but also improves the vibration behaviour of the drums. And the included sound rings can muffle the overtones of the snare and toms and reduce their decay. This makes the sound a bit duller, quieter, and more controlled - often an advantage, especially in smaller rooms. The same applies to the included bass drum pillow: On the one hand, it eliminates the often unwanted, high-frequency "boing" sound when hitting an unmuffled bass drum; on the other hand, depending on the positioning and alignment, both the batter and the resonant head can be muffled. This gives the sound more punch and improves the playing feel with the pedal.

First companion

The Millenium Focus 18 Drum Set Black is primarily aimed at young people and adults who want to get a first taste of the world of drumming without having to empty their bank account. At an extremely reasonable price, it offers solid basic equipment with a versatile shell configuration, great looks, and useful add-ons. The aforementioned sound rings make life a lot easier for beginners who don't yet have the greatest experience in tuning a drum kit. Of course, it is recommended that players acquire basic tuning skills over time, but for now there is simply more time to practise and play.

About Millenium

Millenium is one of Thomann’s in-house brands and has been an integral part of the store’s range since 1995. More than 800 products – from drums and percussion through to accessories such as microphone stands, racks, and recording workstations – bear the Millenium label. These products are made by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands. Since they are imported directly from the factory without any further distributors or sales companies, they can be sold at particularly attractive prices. Incidentally, one in every four Thomann customers has already purchased at least one Millenium product.

Jazz it up!

Drum sets with 18" bass drums are often seen in Jazz ensembles, but with the right head combination, tuning, and muffling, this drum can also produce a Pop/Rock sound known from modern recordings. Such stylistic categorisations are only a rough guide anyway, because no matter whether you are playing Funk, Soul, or R&B, the limits are rather dictated by your own skills and not so much by the equipment. Long before that first live gig or recording session, however, your skills must first be developed, and the Millenium Focus 18 is perfect for this. At the same time, this set does not need to be hidden away in the basement practice room. With its timeless black shells, the discreetly stylish Millenium logos, and the chromed hardware, it visually upgrades every rehearsal room. And thanks to its shell configurations, it also saves a great deal of space.

Totally worth the price for everything you get.

This kit packs with a lot of chances for improvement. It’s simply the best way to experience how to build a relationship with your drums. Start with stock heads and then move step by step bu introducing to pro heads, and then later add additional gear like better cymbals and that’s all you got to do. It’s those little things that makes you and your kit sound and feel better. This kit is worth every penny.

Good deal but don't expect too much

I bought this for two purposes: one, to have a simple compact kit in my recording studio, and two, for my son who is starting drum lessons. For the lessons it is absolutely fine. For the studio, I will make use of it but I feel a similarly sized set from a different brand would have been a better choice - although for sure much more expensive too.
Value for money, it definitely is. A complete little kit which can really be played, no criticism there. But when I compare this to the Thomann house brand guitars on offer, I think there is quite some room for improvement here. The guitars are amazing value for money, and in case of the electrics you can with some upgrade of electronics get a pretty good sounding instrument. Not so sure that goes for these drums, for a start, the kettles are not properly round, neither are the hoops, and so they don't exactly fit. It sort of works but has it's problems. I think it should be possible to get this a bit better. Of course the connecting hardware is not top quality, but in general adequate, if one doesn't change it too often - although nothing is really tight when tightened. I have seen others comment on the kick drum pedal, luckily I had a slightly better one from Millenium, which, if you ask me, they should include in the set. Something similar for the Hihat stand, it's working but the angle of the pedal can not be changed and is definitely a bit steep and awkward. The drums themselves, the kick actually sounds ok to me, I like 18 inch a lot, it is the best size for use in the studio and this one doesn't disappoint. The toms are ok too, the snare so far doesn't get along with me, there is a boxy quality to the sound no matter how I tune it. Time to try some other skins. The cymbals.. are ok for a beginner but sound quite cheap. Nevertheless I'm glad they are included.
So, not to sound too negative - it's a great little set for a very low price, but one should have realistic expectations. I will for sure try all kinds of things to improve the sound and playability, and we'll see how it goes.

Bought this set for 309 euro...for my daughter...now I play on it! Why?
I unwraped it, unassembled it, put some wood in bass holes and do laquier job....two kinds of pinky autoflake! It looks awsome! Then I assebmled it, put Evans Ecs2 heads on toms, Powerstroke 3, and Aquarian Superkick II (with Aquarian resonant head), and tune it. Toms are now hanging on Millenium tom holders, cought on cymbal stand!
It sound better than some midle class drums! I adore this cheapest drum!
