Moeck 4202 Rottenburgh Soprano

Rottenburgh Soprano Recorder

Like the violin, the classical recorder also dates from the Baroque period. The cultural centres of that period were Paris, London, Amsterdam, Nuremberg and Brussels. The famous recorder maker Friedrich von Huene has examined almost all the remaining originals from this period that are being kept in museums. From the sum of his data, the Moeck Rottenburgh baroque recorders in the style of the instruments by the recorder maker Jean-Hyacinth-Joseph Rottenburgh were created.

Characterised by their brilliant pitch and modern tuning, today they are the most frequently played Baroque solo recorders available, and have proven themselves to be an especially reliable instrument.

Higly recommended for the intermediate player

After years of playing on the cheaper versions of recorders and learning the basics, I actually wanted to purchase a higher quality recorder that sounded more like a 'wood instrument' and has a richer sound. I also wanted a Baroque instead of a German design. My aim being to learn how to do trills, play higher notes purer and play smoother and faster melodies and have a challenge.
I am very impressed with the quality! The recorder comes in a well designed casing and has everything one needs to keep it in good condition. The recorder is a tiny bit smaller than most soprano recorders but I have small hands so it's perfect for me. The rich sound is very pure and where I always had to make an extreme effort to get out the higher notes, this model allows for finer airflow and is very sensitive to the touch giving easier access especially to the higher register. The lower register has a beautiful rich tone to it as well. I think the only thing I didn't like is that I had to take my time to ''play the instrument in'' (week one: 5 min daily max; week 2: 10 min daily max etc). I also had to learn the Baroque fingering but that went quite quickly. I am a very happy and now more advanced recorder player. I am really pleased with this product!

This recorded was easy to break in and has an excellent sound. The high and low notes are relatively easy to play and maintain a good tone.

The recorder plays very sweetly and clearly, with a full pure sound. I have had many compliments on the tone of this soprano recorder, even though I am still playing it in, as I haven't had it for long.
I am an experienced amateur player, and have played it in a group, as well as as a solo instument. I think this instrument represent excellent value for money.

Great sound and good build quality
Craig McG 04.01.2022
This instrument is well made and has a very pleasing and balanced appearance. I find the 3 piece structure allows me to make fine adjustment to achieve a perfect position for the right little finger. The sound is clear and consistent in volume across the range. The joints are a bit susceptible to temperature change and can sometimes feel a bit loose, but with appropriate application of cork grease, it has not caused me a significant problem. I think it represents good value for money and I intend to always have this model in my collection.
