A top-quality descant recorder with a warm, rich tone...
MMS99 06.05.2019
I purchased this Moeck Rottenburgh olivewood soprano/descant recorder because I've owned a Rottenburgh olivewood alto/treble for 25 years and a more beautiful tone you could not hope to find! I was interested to see if the soprano/descant recorder would have a similarly rich tone and it certainly does...
Moeck make top-quality recorders and the craftsmanship is evident. The Rottenburgh range is perfect for intermediate to advanced players, or those looking to invest in their first good quality wooden recorder.
I also have a Moeck Rottenburgh pearwood soprano/descant which has a lovely, bright tone - but the olivewood has a noticeably richer sound at the lower end of the range and handles the upper register beautifully. I used to be in a medieval trio but these days I play folk music in a band and I wanted a richer, more solid sound. I can thoroughly recommend it. It is a pleasure to play - responsive and warm.
All Moeck Rottenburgh recorders are excellent quality and the various different woods give different tones. The harder the wood, the more expensive. If you're looking for something rich, strong and warm it is worth spending a bit more on the olivewood. It is a beautiful instrument.

A
Beautiful recorder!
Anonymous 22.08.2016
I am an intermediate amateur recorder player who has a variety of wooden and top end plastic recorders. I am very pleased with the quality of this olive wood recorder and is by far the best recorder I now own. The beautiful grain of the olive wood makes this recorder look substantially more special and stands out more in comparison to the other recorders I have. It really looks like a work of great craftsmanship.

I use this recorder for solo playing standard classical and fun pieces and it performs brilliantly. It has a very clear, elegant, sweet tone, with the upper and lower registers easy to reach with not much variation in breath pressure required.

It came with a nice recorder care set, which included recorder oils and brushes.

Very pleased with this recorder

DK
Beautiful and lovely sound!
Diana K 13.12.2021
I was surprised how fast this recorder arrived all the way from Germany to the US! I love the beauty and quality of this recorder. It's my first wooden recorder, and what a difference between this and the plastic one I was playing. This one is light, bright, and the notes seem much clearer. It is a joy to play, and it will be tough limiting to 5' per day!

Beautiful

This is a beautiful instrument in every sense of the word. It looks amazing and is already starting to sound incredible after only a handful of plays.. I can tell that I am going to be very happy with it for a long time. The box and care kit are really nice too. I am very pleased with this instrument.
